forest fire at the Washington Forest Protection Association's fire simulator
training course near Shelton. Projected on the screen at right is a view of the
"fire." Later, course participants take on the "hot seat," directing crews and
equipment -- and handling "complications" -- as in an actual fire situation.

Citizens planning summer
vacation should be very leery if
they receive an announcement
that they have been selected for a
virtually free stay in a resort city,
Attorney General Slade Gorton
cautioned recently.
Gorton said his office recently
had been contacted by consumers
who got an announcement that
Potluck dinner planned
by Improvement Club

Potluck dinner is scheduled
for May 16 in tile Union Firehall
at 7 p.rn. The dinners are
sponsored by the Hood Canal
Improvement Club. Ticket of
admisskm is a food dish of your
choice.
The David Ray Orthopedic
Dinner has been changed to
Robin tlood Inn May 21.
Tire Union Ladies Civic Club
is having a bake sale May 24 from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale will be
held in front of the realty office
at Aide rbrook.
Gladys and Ray Thompson
:.wish to thank their neighbors in
Gladys injured her leg. She's still
on crutches. Last week Ray
became ill and needed medical
help. Gladys and Ray weren't able
to drive but friends provided
transportation and other
assistance.
Warming weather, a fair low
tide and what appeared to be a
localized red tide heralded
Mother's Day this last Sunday.
