Annual percentage rate (APR), or interest,varies widely, but 11.68 percent per year is common. Most credit unions' rates on mobile homes range from 11.01 to 12 percent APR, typically for 6 to I0 years. Mason County Credit Union currently offers two rates: new mobiles with 25% down at 10.8% APR up to 120 months, and used mobiles with 20% down at 12% APR up to 96 months. To summarize, if a mobile home appears to be the solution to your housing needs, shop for it carefully - check warranty, package price, and shop for financing. Laura Jean Stout, SHS senior, was announced as the winner of the credit union $800 college scholarship on Friday morning, May 9. Jim Connolly, chairman of the selection committee, worked along with other committee members: Larry Nelson; Agnes Hamilton, Lou Donnell and William H. Smith in making the choice. Laura's plans include attending Central Washington State College in the fall, majoring in journalism and minoring in art. She names career choices as newspaper columnist, television news broadcasting, anc commercial art. Laura is the daughter of Phillip and Donna Stout of Shelton. Selected as alternate was Barbara Van Buskirk, North Mason High School senior. She plans to pursue a nursing career anci will receive $100 from the credit union to help her towards her goal.
