MEMBERS of the Mason County Forest Festival Royal Court and princesses
from rural schools and Shelton Junior High School were guests of Simpson
Timber Company Monday for a tour of the woods operation and other
Simpson operations. Here they are getting ready to board the crew bus
which provided them their transportation.

The top 4-H members in the
recent county demonstration day
have been selected to participate
in elimination contests to select
those who will be eligible to
represent the county in
competition at the state fair in
Puyallup September 21.
Application has been received
by the Seattle U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers office from Ervin
Dorenbush, Sumner, for a
Department of the Army permit
for work in Hammersley Inlet
near Shelton.
The work is to retain an
existing bulkhead, fill and boat
ramp; construct additional
bulkhead. The existing work was
completed in 1972 and is planned
to eliminate erosion and provide a
boat launching and protect an
existing tree.
The applicant has agreed all
construction debris will be
disposed on land in such a manner
that it cannot enter navigable
water and work in navigable water
will be done so as to minimize

The play-off is scheduled for
9 a.m. June 2 at Southside
School.
