Reed Scholarships sponsored by Simpson Timber Company. Douglas F. Spencer, 23, Shelton, is awarded his second $1,000 special category grant, which will be used for his second year at the University of Oregon Law School. In addition, seven other local youths are among 26 students selected to receive $800 scholarships- They are: Leonard A. Williams Jr., son of Leonard A. Williams Sr., Route l; Brian W. Grinnell, son of louis R. Grinnell, 126 Hawthorn Drive; Ronald M. Starr, son of LD. Starr, 304 Island Lake Drive; George E. Waite, son of George T. Waite, Route 4, Michael Connolly, son of James E. Connolly, 1410 North 13th; Randal N. Reeve, son of Clifford Reeve, Route 10 and Cathy D. Sandstrom, daughter of Hank Sandstrom, Route 6, Olympia. Spencer is the son of Harry F. Spencer, 1306 Center Street. The award recipient plans to practice corporate law within private industry. He is a 1970 graduate of Oregon College of Education. Both Williams and Grinnell are graduating seniors from Shelton High School. Williams plans to study architecture at either the University of Washington or St. Martin's College. Grinnell will enter the UW to begin electrical engineering studies. Starr and Waite are both receiving their second year grants. Starr will be a sophomore at Washington State University where he is majoring in computer science and Waite will be a junior Route 3, Elma, also receiving her John R.
