He has worked in the electri- cal utility industry for nearly 39 years. Prior to his employment at the Shelton-based public util- ity district, Brown worked for Arkansas Power & Light. He has worked nearly 28 years at PUD 3, always counting himself as part of an Arkansan migra- tion to the Pacific Northwest. A large number of linemen moved from the southeastern U.S. to Washington in the Seventies. For him, the sportsman's para- dise in Mason County kept him hooked for almost three de- cades. He was hired as a lineman by PUD 3 in 1979 and advanced through the ranks. He was pro- moted to line foreman in 1991, named line superintendent at the PUD's Belfair office in 1992 and assumed the operations manager position in 1995, over- seeing utility line operations ft. Brown and his wife Landis have plans for gardening, shar- ing time with kids and grand- children and traveling. He will be replaced in the op- erations manager position by Bob Smith, who has worked as the Belfair line superintendent for a total of seven years. Mike Speaks, who has been a tree trimmer foreman for PUD 3, has been selected to fill Smith's former position in Belfair. s312 One for $185. Special savings to outlying areas.
