STEPS
Kitten Rescue
La and Re are young adult siblings
needing a forever home to share to-
gether. Their owner sadly had to give
these loving girls up due to a medi-
cal situation. They need to find a spe-
cial family that will share the love
and affection that these loving ladies
deserve. La and Re want to share a
lifetime of kitty cuddling, napping
and lap warming. La and Re will
bring years of enjoyment, companion-
ship, rub and purrs, kitty play and
happy meows to the right home. For
information on La and Re, or other
available indoor only kitties call 584-
0594 or leave a message at 426-2455.
Volunteers honored at Senior Center luncheon
Nearly 100 people attended
the Mason County Senior Ac-
tivities Association and Cen-
ter's 2011 Volunteer Recogni-

29.
The event was part of the
organization's 30th anniver-

Nutrition Program operated
by Senior Services for South
Sound were also saluted. Spe-
cial recognition went to Maxine
Rhoades for her volunteer ser-
vice at the center since 1981.
The guest speaker was noted
volunteer management expert
Susan Lamoreaux.
Eleven volunteers also re-
ceived the national President's
Volunteer Service Awards for
serving from between 100 and
500 hours in a year for their
service through the RSVP (Re-
fired and Senior Volunteer
Program) in Lewis, Mason and
Thurston Counties.
In addition to awards, the
volunteers enjoyed a wonder-
ful lunch of lemon chicken and
rice pilaf prepared by local chef
Treacy Kreger, who donated
his time to honor the volun-
teers.
