...... ,, I I I ,
SEVENTY-FIVE WE ARE, so the calendar says.
Seventy-five years in one place. Is that standing
still or moving? With Simpson, and with the
Shelton Working Circle communities, it has been
moving. Positively go-go.
Through lean years and thick, the 75 years of
Simpson in Mason County have been marked by
the growth of our organization, growth in our
ability to serve markets, growth in our timber,
growth in our population and growth in the con-
viction that properly-managed forest resources
bring benefits to mankind.
The results of 75 years testify to the sound judg-
ment of Sol G. Simpson in setting up his little log-
ging company here in 1890. That venture flick-
ered along with the usual problems of a new busi-
ness. In 1895, partner Alfred H. Anderson join-
ed Simpson in establishing a strong Simpson Log-
ging Company, a name this community was to
know for 60 years.
Company
Under the firm o idance of Mark E. Reed, whose
career with the company ranged from 1896 to
1933, Simpson steered into the manufacturing
and merchandising of wood. And ever since it has
continued in that direction. The widening course'
of Simpson Timber Company has carried its name
into many states and later into many countries.
The years ahead are filled with promise for
Simpson and for the people of this bountiful
region. Seventy-five years of accomplishment
have built ample foundations for the future.
We look forward to a future of continual timber
crops in the Shelton Working Circle. We look
forward to greater opportunities for the people
of this area to enjoy good living and happiness
from the benefits of the forests. On this 75th an-
niversary, we thank the people of the Shelton
Working Circle for their expressions of good will
and for their confidence in our efforts.

We measure the future in terms of the thriving young forests which cover the Shelton Working Circle.
