A free one-day workshop for
people interested in starting or
operating a successful business of
their own will be conducted by
the Small Business Administration
in cooperation with Evergreen
State College. The workshop will
be held at the Lecture Hall 5,
Office of Cooperative Education,
Evergreen State College,
Thursday, May 29, 1975 from
9:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
According to Robert F.
Caldwell, District Director, the
primary purpose of this program
is to give an understanding of the
b asic requirements and
considerations necessary in
starting and managing one's own
business. In addition, sources of
information, assistance and
counsel will be suggested.
To insure ample opportunity
for discussion of individual
problems, attendance at this
workshop will be limited to a
first-come, first-served basis.

Wilbert H. Conway
Wilbert H. (Bert) Conway
died Friday in Mason General
Hospital at the age of 78 years.
Born December 31, 1896 in
Buckley, Washington, he was
reared in the Buckley area and
later lived and worked in Alaska
for many years. For ten years he
resided in the Hoodsport area,
and was a resident of Shelton
since October of 1974.
Mr. Conway was employed
for 22 years by the State of
Washington Highway Department
as an operator of heavy
equipment.
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Orie E. Conway of Shelton;
two sisters, Mrs. Blanch Smith of
Auburn, Washington and Mrs.
Eileen Julien of Seal Beach,
California; two grandchildren,
Christie and Michael Gilbert of
Boise, Idaho; and by two
stepsons, Donald Randle of
Alaska and Leroy Sonneson of
Enumclaw.
Graveside services were held
at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Enumclaw
Evergreen Cemetery with Father
Rink officiating.
Andrew Steinman
Andrew Loren Steinman,
infant son of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas L. Steinman of Shelton,
died Saturday in Children's
Orthopedic Hospital, Seattle, at
the age of ten days. He was born
May 7, 1975 in McCleary.
Surviving him, in addition to
his parents, are grandparents
Anthony and Evelyn Kreifels of
Shelton, Loren Steinman of
Seminole, Oklahoma and Virginia
Steinman of Laramie, Wyoming; a
great-grandmother, Mrs. Hattie
Kreifels of Longmont, Colorado;
and numerous aunts, uncles and
cousins.
Father Michael Feeney
officiated at a graveside service
held in Shelton Memorial Park at
3 p.m. Tuesday.
Oscar M. Nelson
Oscar M. Nelson, 72, died
May 13 in Mason General
Hospital. He was born August 26,
1902 in Sweden and is survived
by a sister and nephew in Seattle.
Formerly of Seattle, he had
lived in Shelton for the past seven
years. He had been employed as a
sawmill worker.
Pastor Roland Huber
officiated at graveside services
held at 2 p.m. last Thursday in
Shelton Memorial Park.
Claude A. Jackson
Graveside services were held
at 2 p.m. Monday in the Masonic
Cemetery, Olympia, for Claude
Allyn Jackson who died Friday in
Mason General Hospital at the age
of 81 years. Olympia Lodge No. 1
F. and A.M. officiated.
Mr. Jackson was born June
21, 1893 in Kent, Washington. He
lived in Olympia until 1919,
moving to Allyn and eventually
settling in Shelton in 1934. For
many years he was employed as
superintendent of oyster beds for
Rayonier.
He was a past commander of
Fred B. WiveU Post No. 31
American Legion and was a
member of Olympia Lodge No. 1
F. and A.M. and of the Scottish
Rite.
