James F. Cheney, Port
Angeles, was given a three-year
deferred sentence on a charge of
second degree burglary when he
appeared in Mason,County
Superior Court before Judge
Robert Doran Friday.
Cheney, along with another
young man, was accused of
breaking into the Evergreen
Professional Center Drug Center
early this year.
In addition to the deferred
sentence, Cheney was sentenced
to 60 days in Mason County jail
with all except 14 suspended.
Deputy Prosecutor Gary
Burleson told the court the
pre-sentence report had
recommended probation for the
young man and that the
prosecutor's office would concur,
but would ask that some county
jail time be imposed as a
condition of the deferral.
Whitcomb told the court
Cheney lived in the Port Angeles

family had recently come to the
area from Missouri. The attorney
said Cheney had no previous
felony record. The other youth
involved had committed himself
to a drug rehabilitation program

Both the prosecutor's office
and Whitcomb, who represented
the young man, recommended
probation. The court was told
Antonsen had no previous felony
convictions and that he was
employed.
As a condition of the deferral
of sentence, he was ordered to
work five days on weekends at
the Shdton police station.
