Relay For Life near t00te starting line
the high school's select vocal
ensemble The Illusions will per-
form a patriotic song as the can-
cer survivors walk a victory lap
led by the high school's Naval
Junior Reserve Officer Training
Corps and the Electric Extreme
Cheer Squad. A team lap will fol-
low at 7 p.m.
As teams proceed to walk
around the track for the next
24 hours, music and announce-
ments will accompany them from
7:30 p.m. on. The Michael Ross
Band will play from 8 to 9 p.m.
More music and announcements
will take place from 9 to 9:30
p.m. and Victor Cummings will
perform from 9:30 to 10 p.m.
There will be a luminaria cer-
emony from 10 to 11 p.m., along
with a candlelight vigil tbaturing
On your mark, get set - Shel-
ton's Relay For Life is almost
ready to go. With a safari theme
this year, the annual event gener-
ates funds to support the Ameri-
can Cancer Society in "hunting
for a cure."
Shelton Relay For Life 2007
will take off at 5 p.m. on Fri-
day, June 8, at the Shelton High
School Track. A survivors' recep-
tion honoring everyone who has
lived through cancer, will open
the relay, running from 5 to 7
p.m. These survivors may regis-
ter for a victory lap starting at
6:30 p.m.
Opening ceremonies will be-
gin with a dramatic start as
sky jumpers from Kapowsin Air
Sports "fly" onto the scene. Fol-
lowing this dramatic entrance,

June 7, Shelton Mayor John Tar-
rant will host a coffee hour from
6 to 7 a.m. Breakfast will begin
at 6 a.m., continuing until 8 a.m.
Shelton Moose Lodge members
will sponsor this meal, serving
pancakes and French toast to
everyone involved in the relay.
Shelton High's Students Against
Destructive Decisions club will
serve biscuits and gravy fl'om 7
to 9 a.m.
More music will entertain the
crowd from 7 to 10 a.m. The Al-
ley Cat Line Dancers will per-
tbrm a dance all the way around
the track from 10 to 10:30 a.m.
A cancer jingle contest will fol-
low from 11 a.m. to noon. A deco-
ration party for children and a
parade will fill the next hour.
There will be entertainment by
a YMCA group and a drawing
tbr a playhouse, along with more
music.
From 2 to 4 p.m., people will
