City of Shelton could use video conference between court, jail By KEVIN SPRADLIN kev~n(~,'m~soncounty.com A plan by Shelton city officials to have Mason County Jail inmates appear before a Municipal Court judge via video conference has been put aside -- at least for now. Terry James, an infor- mation technology special- ist with Shelton. presented what he figures to be a cost-savings initiative that would save police officers' time and improve court se- curity. James said the initial cost to the city would be $42,338.82 to set up the system plus a $180 monthly maintenance fee. But James said the city spends nearly $2,000 each month transporting in- mates to and from the jail Most, if not all, of that time would be eliminated by the implementation of the video conferencing system.
