The Mason County
Recreation Association has gained
support from an unexpected
source in its effort to build a
community recreational complex
on John's Prairie.
MCRA president Don
.imerl
Val Sienko won the low gross
title of the Lake Limerick
O b s t acle Tournament held
Memorial Day Weekend. He shot
a 59 on the nine hole course with
such obstacles as teeing off a
hose, going through an archway in
the fairway, and going through
wickets on the green.
The golfers had to master a
hazard on every hole. Sienko was
followed by Dick Castner and H.
Blacker at 60, and M.C. Zeckser
and Mark Johnson at 62.
In the men's low net division,
Ken Wilde and George Gregory
took first with 30's. Art Martin
had a 31, and Jim Kneeland and
Bill Heibes tied for third with
33's.
Barbara Olson won the low
gross for women, with a 64. She
was followed by Shirley Wilde
with a 72, Dorothy Gregory with
Ed Adams Stars
At Fox College
Edward A. Adams ousted a
letterman from the shortstop
position and worked himself to
the top of the batting order to
give the George Fox College
Quakers of Newberg, Oregon their
best record in baseball for several
years.
Ed, a physical education major,
is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
Adams of Shelton.

$219 for the association's recreational complex on John's
Prairie. Students making the presentation were, left to right,
Bill Harpel, Dana Frint, Mark Johnson and Rick Endicott.
Johnson welcomed the support
given by two student groups
recently. A group of Shelton ttigh

Festival parade.
a 73, Millie Berry with a 75, and
Mary Daniels, with a 76.
The women's low net
belonged to Marge McGunnigle
with a 26. Maxine Peterson was
second with a 28. Jo Boyd was
third, netting a 30. Bobble
Petterson had a 31 for fourth and
Lois Boyd was fifth with a score
of 32.
Last week members of the
ttood Canal Junior High School
donated $219.99 which they had
collected in just three days. What
started out to be the effort of two
enterprising ninth graders soon
turned into a class competition
with the eighth grade donating
over $100.
The money was not all
student-donated as faculty
members, urged on by their
students, also contributed.
Johnson said: "This is the type of
effort needed from the total
community to insure the success
of the project".
Private donations may be
mailed to the Mason County
Recreation Association, P.O. Box
24. Additional information may
be objatined by calling Don
Johnson 426-8464 or AI Egg
426-1132.

Randy Lewis vaulted 13'6" in the pole vault last
Saturday to tie for eighth place in the State meet. He was the
only Highclimber to go to State this year.
Lewis won the subdistrict and district meets with jumps
of 14' even. Had he gone that high in Pullman, he could have
placed fifth. The winner went 14'9" and broke the old
record.
A senior, Lewis was the leading pointmaker for Shelton
for two years in a row, with 100 last year and 112 this
season. He was a triple winner in several meets in both
seasons.
