The Shelton Nimrod Club's
annual trout-fishing party for
the community's developmen-
tally disabled is this Saturday
from 9 a.m. to noon at its cus-
tomary Batstone Pond stamping
grounds.
Volunteers are always wel-
come, remind organizers.
Coming up on its 50th anni-
versary, the Nimrod Club boasts
some 25 members now, with
representation among the gals
now on the rise as well, reports
president and long-time member
Dave Mathews. His dad, found-
ing member Tom Ogden, remains
the club's chairman.

cent decision to change its mascot
to the Orca. Kimberly Peterson
submitted the winning design.
The school used to be the home
of the Trojans but the people at

The Shelton-Mason County
Chamber of Commerce is still ac-
cepting donations in support of the
installation and tending of flower
baskets and the hanging of promo-
tional banners.
Dick Taylor, executive director
of the organization, said the pro-
gram has been running smoothly
with the baskets and banners all
in place prior to the 2007 Mason
County Forest Festival.
The project is funded entirely
through private donations. Volun-
teers and Hood Canal Communi-
cations installed both the flower
baskets and the banners.
"We certainly appreciate all the
help that citizens and businesses
in our community have provided,"
Taylor said, noting that so far the
program is 85 percent funded.
Literacy's there to help
Mason County Literacy has
programs for nonreaders and
those who need help with reading
and other subjects. Information is
available at 426-9733.
