MEETING AGENDA
Fire folk to gather
The Hamma Hamma Fire District 17 Auxiliary is holding
a general meeting on Monday, June 22, at 6 p.m. at the
Hamma Hamma Fire District 17 Fire Hall. The meeting
will be preceded by a potluck dinner. Current auxiliary
members and all Fire District 17 residents are welcome
and encouraged to attend in support of volunteer
firefighters and emergency medical technicians. Please
bring your own dinnerware.
Kiwanis plans speakers
Bob Simmons will be speaking on "An Overview of
WSU Extension Service in Mason County" at the Tuesday,
June 23, meeting of the Shelton Kiwanis Club at Xinh's
Clam and Oyster House in downtown Shelton beginning
at noon.

Taking control topic for diabetes support
Achieving good glu-
cose control is important
for someone with diabe-
tes. Speaking on this topic
will be Don Larson, diabetic
and AIC champion, at Ma-
son General Hospital's next
Diabetes Support Group
meeting, set for Thursday,
June 18, at 1 p.m. in the E1-
linor Room at the hospital.
Larson will discuss the
how-tos of planning and pri-
oritizing for effective self-
management, developing a
balanced and healthy life-
style, overcoming fears sur-
rounding diabetes and find-
ing resources for diabetes
support. The MGH Diabetes
Support Group, affiliated
with the American Diabetes
Association, meets at the
hospital every third Thurs-
day day of the month from
September to June. It is
free and open to people with
type 1 and 2 diabetes.
