Trial dates scheduled in felony drug cases By MARY DUNCAN Trial dates were set for three people arraigned dur- ing the past week in Mason County Superior Court on drug-related charges. Shane William Stidd, 31, 2000 Summit Drive, Shel- ton, pled not guilty on June 15 to possession of over 40 grams of marijuana. He was arrested on April 20 when Officer Dennis Flowers of the Washington Depart- ment of Fish and Wildlife Department responded to a report of two men fishing on Hatchery Lake. The officer reported de- tecting an odor of marijua- na and finding a soda can crushed to form a smoking device. Stidd reportedly gave the officer permission to search the vehicle. Flow- ers reportedly found 89 grams of pot in the trunk of the vehicle Stidd was driv- ing. Stidd and the other man were cited for fishing without a license. Stidd is scheduled for trial during the jury term beginning August 25. Two women accused of drug offenses were ar- raigned on June 11. They are scheduled for trials dur- ing the jury term beginning August 18. Blanche Elizabeth Schaal, 52, of Shelton, pled not guilty to possession of methamphetamine. She was listed as transient at booking. She was arrested on May 19 by a deputy from the Mason County Sher- iffs Office responding to a report of a suspicious ve- hicle on East Johns Creek Drive. The driver of the vehicle gave permission to the deputy to search the vehicle. A black makeup bag was found on the floor- board by the passenger's seat where she was sitting. A smoking device and six small baggies containing a white crystal substance that field-tested positive for meth were found inside the makeup bag. Lucynthia A. McCraw, 54, of 491 East Olde Lyme Road, Shelton, pled not guilty to possession of methamphetamine. She was arrested on June 4 on an outstanding warrant. At the time of her arrest she allegedly had a glass smoking device with a burnt crystal residue in one of her pants pockets. When the officer asked her where the meth was, she report- edly pulled a small baggie from her mouth. It con- tained a crystal substance that field-tested positive for meth. Man gets five years for domestic violence offenses By MARY DUNCAN A man currently serving a 17-year prison sentence for a conviction in another county received a concur- rent sentence for two felony offenses he committed in this county. Toby Kevin Anderson Jr., 26, was sentenced on June 15 in Mason County Supe- rior Court to 60 months for assault in the third degree and to 60 raonths for felony harassment. The offenses are charged as domestic violence involving Crystal- ynne Heidlhoff, with whom he had a dating relation- ship. With an offender score of nine-plus the standard sentencing range is from 51 to 60 months on each count, Deputy Prosecutor Tim Whitehead reported. He said the state agreed to recommend that the sen- tences be concurrent with a 17-year sentence he is serv- ing from a Thurston County case. The sentencing guide- lines say this sentence will be concurrent to any sen- tence he is serving now, noted defense counsel Ron Sergi. Anderson, who is an in- mate at the Washington Corrections Center, said, "This happened quite a bit before the sentence I am serving now." The offenses were committed on October 22, 2008. Judge Amber Finlay com- mented on the assault as described in the probable- cause statement. "She had a large cut that required eight stitches and you punched her eight times and choked her. If the court could have gone consecutive it would have." She ordered him to have no contact with Heidlhoff for five years and to pay a total of $1,847.50 in legal financial obligations.
