SHELTON JAYCEES
MITY ATTITUDS SURVEY
1969
Presented to the officials and citizens of the city of Shelton who are
concerned, in the hope that through their efforts our community will be
a better place in which to live.
IW
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SURVEY
In general the survey was readily accepted by the citizens. Our
eyes were opened by listening to comments and criticisms and by letters
received with the mail out questionnairez. People seemed quite free to
discuss community problems and most were pleased that somebody cared
enough to ask for their opinion.
Several things became apparent from the survey. Listed below are
the highlights, some of which cannot be verified by the survey results
as they represent expressed ideas.
A. Poor and below average responses to medical and dental services
were often in regard to lack of available service rather than
quality of service.
B. Pertaining to public transportation inside the conity, most
people interviewed did net realize there is a city taxi.
C. Recreational opportunities were considered poor for all age groups.
D. Regarding the Junior and Senior High School, most people are
not informed as the most common ansor was "no response".

F. People on fixed incomes were concerned about increased taxes,
but agreed with most people that they would be willing to pay
Iditional taxes, if necessary, if the money was spent wisely.
G. The results bet17oen the door to door and ,nail out questionnaires
correlated well.
