Rose
Richardson
Rose Richardson, 17, of
CHOICE Alternative School
was selected as Student of
the Month for May 2012. She
was recognized for her ac-
complishments in her school
and was honored by the Shel-
ton Lions Club on June 5.
Richardson's parents are
Kathleen, a stay-at-home
plant in New Jersey.
Richardson has been hon-
ored a number of times for
her academic excellence at
CHOICE. She has exceeded
staff expectations in her civic
leadership and productivity
in school projects, and has
been in the Shelton NJROTC
unit for the last three years of
mother, and father John, who high school. She has achieved
works for the PSEG nebular the position of operations of-
ricer.
Richardson was in the
Bremerton NJROTC unit for
two years. During that time,
she helped in the supply de-
partment. She also partici-
pared in all drill meets and
planned two events -- Op-
eration Feed 5,000 and Mad
Dash for Toys. She participat-
ed in more than 100 events
and achieved more than 400
hours of community service
and 300 hours of NJROTC
unit service.
After graduation, she plans
to join the Navy, complete a
one-and-a-half year diving
school and become a deep-sea
diver.
The collective efforts of the
staff and faculty of CHOICE
chose Richardson for her ded-
ication to community service
and high achievements with-
in the high school, officials
said.
