SHELTON-MASON COUNTY
Boys Soccer '
Most Valuable Player —-— Offense
Miguel Nolasco .
Senior North Mason Midfield/Foward
About Nolasco:
~Nolasco was a team
captain who scored
seven goals. He
was a first-team
all~Olympic League
soccer player for the
Bulldogs and helped
lead the team to
the postseason for
the first time in a
decade.
Miguel Nolas-
co’s comments:
“I feel like my last
season went as good
as I wanted it to
be. I started off at
right-winger after
having played there
for over a year at
Harbor Premier. I
found composure in
myself as a strong
winger and contrib-
uted many assists
and picked up a few goals, later transitioning three quarters into the
season to striker. I foundgthat I had the ability to hold the ball for my
midfielders, ’I‘iti Santiago and Javi Ruano, for them to end up assist~
ing me on most of my goals. That would end up having me make first
team selections and rank top 3 for MVP of the Olympic Leaguerwhich
I was shocked over. Overall, we had a solid team and as one of the se-
nior captains, I had to make sure everyone was involved in team ef-
forts, after many tough games and tough losses against bigger, more
competitive schools, we ended up winning enough games to be able to
play in the district playoffs for the first time in over a decade, which
was very exciting.” I
Coach AJ Gennaro’s comments: “Miguel was our leading goal
scorer playing a mix of striker and winger. He is technically skilled
and his style is fast—paced. This was the best season North Mason has
had in over a decade. We had a large and strong senior'class, butjust
as many underclassmen stepped up at important times this season.
We had a freshman goalkeeper (Xavier Powell) and a couple other
freshmen Angel Salvador (Pedro’s Brother) and Tyler Borseth in the
defense that strengthened our side and provide hope for continued
strength of the North Mason boys soccer program.”

Most Valuable Player —- Defense
,Pedro Salvador ~ «
Junior - North Mason - Central Defense
About Salvador: Salvador had three goals and was a team cap—
tain for the Bulldogs. He helped lead North Mason to the district
tournament. .
Pedro Salvador’s comments: “I am very excited to earn an M V P
award. You have to fight to reach your dreams. You have to sacrifice
and work hard for it. My soccer season went pretty good, didn’t get
the best results but hopefully next year will be better.”
Coach AJ Gennaro’s: “Pedro played center back and was the pri-
mary reason our opponents attacking plays broke down. He’s a physi-
cal and fast player, and even with our high defensive line, through
balls from opponents were not a threat thanks to him. He has excel‘
lent free kick skills, which is where one of his goals came from and
even scored a volley from 28 yards out at home against Kingston.”
