Kezlie Thygesen
Senior 9 North Mason - Distance
About Thygesen: A four-year runner for the Bulldogs, Thygesen
finished her high school career with a sixtlrplace finish in the 3,200
'
meters at the 2A state championships, Where she linished with a time
of ll minutes, 30.45 seconds. 'l‘hygesen won the District 3 meet with
a schmil—recori’l time of 11:15.14,- and won the Olympic League title
in
the event. ’l‘hygesen also competed in the 1,600 meters where she fin-
ished 11th at state and third in the league and district meets.
Kezlie Thygesen’s comments: “I focused on staying healthy and
breakng records this season. My first 3,200 meters race out of the
gate I surprised myself and broke my own record. continued to break
this record three more times during the season. I also broke the mile
record and the 1,600—meter record (both previously held by Raven
Wolfe). The improvements that I had on my times this season‘was
more than I had even hoped for. I was excited for the chance to com»
pete and podium at state.”
Coach Miranda Thygesen’s comments: “Kezlie had a great
season from the first sound of the starting gun. She had a lifetime
best run in the 1,600 meters at our first meet at home and I knew it
was going to be a great season if we could keep her healthy. Her sec-
ond race of the season and first chance to run the 3,200 meters we
were shocked she ran another personal best to break her own record.
Throughout the season she continued to click ofi” steady improvements
breaking records a total of six times. It was a great way for her to end
her high school career at North Mason.”

Olivia Henry
Senior o Shelton Throws
About Henry: Henry capped her high school career with sixth—place
podium finish at in the javelin at the 2A state championship, meet.
Henry threw a personal—best 108 feet, 3 inches at state. She finished
third at the District 4 meet and fourth at the Evergreen champion—
ships. Henry also had a fourth-place finish at the 63rd annual Shelton
Invitational with a throw of 106-7. ‘
Olivia Henry’s comments: “I started the season out as a trans—‘
fe and very unsure about where I stood in the league. I started off
lower than I ranted but about a third of the Way in I was getting good
throws. I dipped for a bit in the middle of the season, but my coaches
helped me overcome that. I was thrilled when I had a PR at state that
pushed me all the way through to the podium. I was super thankful for
how welcoming the Shelton track‘program has been to me and how wel—
coming this whole community has been.”
Coach Doug Sells’ comments: “Liv definitely stepped it up when
' it counted. She showed tremendous focus at every big meet she was
in.”
