Player of the Year
Sarah Pruitt
Senior North Mason - Shortstop .
About Pruitt: A three—year starter for the Bulldogs, Pruitt hit
.500 with a .615 on-base percentage and a .750 slugging percentage.
She finished the year with 20 hits, including 10 for extra bases with
13 RBI and 21 runs scored in helping North Mason reach districts.
Sarah Pruitt’s comments: “This season definitely wasn’t our
best season, but I think it showed a lot of girls, especially the younger
ones, what they need to work on before next season. Our last game at
districts was definitely an exciting game and it was awesome to see
the girls not give up, and not stop battling until the very end. I will
definitely miss high school softball so much and making memories
with the team. Thank you to our assistant coach Jack Worthington for
everything you have done and being our emotional support human. I
am excited to see where the future of North Mason softball holds with
all of the talent coming up from the middle school.” ‘
Coach Steve Valley’s comments: “Sarah is a great person and a
great athlete, she .worked hard every day, she always demonstrated
a positive attitude. Sarah was not shy about helping other players.
She was an outstanding shortstop and helped all the infield with field-
ing techniques and pushed them all to be better. She will be greatly
missed. and it willbe hard to replace everything she did for the team
and the school.”

Pitcher of the Year
Ally Baumgart
Senior Shelton Pitcher/Shortstop
About Baumgart: A third-year starter in the circle for the High—
climbers, Baumgart also hit .500 with 21 hits. She had 15 extra—base
hits, including six home runs, 15 runs scored and 17 RBI. Baumgart
had a 1.143 slugging percentage and a .600 on—base percentage for the
Highclimbers.
Ally Baumgart’s comments: “While pitching isn’t'my first posi—
tion and I’m going to college to be a shortstop, I really did enjoy my
senior year. I worked and worked during my off-season to do my best
and produce for my team, and felt that I did that even if we didn’t go
to state. It’s crazy to me that I got voted pitcher of the year, but it
was
a very welcome surprise.” '
Coach Rich Squire’s comments: “Ally this year really stepped
up for this t ram and stepped into the role as our starting pitcher. Her
strength was being able to focus on the job at hand. She got stronger
as the year went on. Ally was able to shake it off when she would get
a ground ball or a fly ball and the defense was unable to get her the
outs. She pitched several games which she would have to get four or
five outs an inning. Ally worked really hard in the off—season being
able to throw multiple pitches and keep batters of? balance.” '
