The Christian and Missionary
Alliance was the first Protestant
mission to enter Vietnam with the
gospel in 1911. The Evangelical
Church of Vietnam with a
constituency in excess of 150,000
people is largely the result of
Alliance work.
When Vietnam fell, at least
500 of these Christians escaped.
Some of the Christian leaders
evidently were marked men. The
Christian and Missionary Alliance
did what seemed the proper thing
- they financially guaranteed to
the United States government
these Vietnamese believers. A
minimum of $500,000 to defray
these and other related expenses
is needed.
Mt. View Alliance Church, in
a joint effort with perhaps several
area Alliance churches, is
endeavoring to sponsor one of
these Vietnamese families.
Concerned people who wish
to financially aid these Christian
Vietnamese may do so by
contacting Pastor Earl Evers,
2320 Washington Street,
426-3294.
