GIVING DIRECTIONS to Pastor Art Bushnell, right, is
Shelton Seventh-day Adventist Church member Bennie
Sayler, security officer for the tent-and-trailer city formed
at the Auburn Adventist Academy for the 63rd annual
:Seventh-day Adventist camp meeting. Some 10,000
Adventists, mostly from Western Washington, attended the
Weekend sessions of the ten-day convocation, with up to
000 attending during the week. The meeting ended
night, June 24.
Six-year-old Andy is a songwriter
It may not make tile national
charts, but a number of
Sheitonians are humming a song
composed by Andrew Harris
Giddings, a Shelton
first.grader-to-be, this spring.
Andy, the son of Verne and
Helen Giddings, asked his mother
to write down the words of his
song and his father picked out
Andy's tune on the guitar, then
provided chords to accompany
it.
A Bible study group which
meets at the Giddings home
heard it, and the next step was
1968 grads
set reun Ion
The Shelton High School
Class of 1968 will hold its
ten-year class reunion on
Saturday, July 22 at the Mason
County Fairgrounds Olympic
Building.
Starting at 7 p.m., the
evening will include dinner and a
live band.
A booklet is being composed
as an update on all the class
members. It is free with the
price of the party, or can be
ordered separately.
Reservations will be accepted
until July l, but no late
reservations will be taken. To
make arrangements to attend, or
to get further information,
contact The Reunion Committee
in care of Karel Cannon, Route
3, Box 769-A, Shelton.
Girls get awards at Council Fire
Shannon Skilman, three years;
and Jeneane Hammond, Kim
Look and Cathy Watkins, five
years.
Seven year awards went to
Lisa Cook, Carolyn Cuzick, Karin
Knudson, Trula Watkins, Melody
Wehnes and Brenda Wilson.
Sandy Brewer, Terry Cuzick and
Lord Putvin received ten year
awards.
Alcoholism Recovery Council.
Toni Anderson, Castlee
' Carpenter, Gloria Erckenbrack,
Triaia Hills, Melissa Hinchcliff,
Leina Johansson, Kara LeBresh,
Deana Norris, Stacy Robertson
and Iteather Skihnan participated.
Bluebirds flying up to the
Adventure Level were the
Southside Happy Bluebirds with
leader Myra Hills, the Bordeaux
Rose Bluebirds and leader
Carolyn Hoosier, and the
Bordeaux Busy Bluebirds with
leader Betty Linker.
Camp Fire members present
at the Council Fire to receive
their tenure awards were Pare
Buitenveld, Tricia Hills, Kara
LeBresh, Mary Myers, Stacy
Robertson. Sherrie Sawyer and
Local Camp Fire girls
eeently participated in a Camp
ire Council Fire, an
pirational ceremonial for all
four levels of the Mason County
Organization.
The Reverend William
tLndrews of the Shelton United
klethodist Church gave the
Invocation. Speaker was Judi
beacon of the Olympus Council
gtaff, who discussed the meaning
of Council Fire and commended
the girls for a number of special
awards.
Southside " Happy Bluebirds
hader Myra Hills and co-leader
lat Norris presented the Star
lird awards to their group for an
optional project of working with
l'hurston and Mason County

where Andy and his younger
sisters are students.
Accompanied by Verne on
the guitar, the preschool class
sang the song during the church's
observance of Whitsunday or
Pentecost in May.

"Praise to the Lord,"
the breeze will say,
"The birds are all home
in the tree today."
"It's the first song that 1
wrote," confides Andy.
Will there be more? The
answer is an emphatic nod.
'q just wanted to write a
song," he explains. "l started
with six birds, but the first two
didn't rhyme.
"And Morn helped," he
admits. She helped change two
phrases to carry out the rhyme
scheme, but the rest is as he first
created it.
Singing, sports and riding his
bike all occupy the erstwhile
songwriter's time. "And 1 like to
swim - in fact, that's what I'll
go do now," Andy announces.
And off he goes. End of
