By NATALIE JOHNSON
, Sunday's sunny weather drew
more than 400 entrants to the Yes-
teryear Car Club's l lth annual
Mason County Historical Society
Car Show.
This year the event's hundreds
of cars took up several city blocks,
side streets and parking lots in
downtown Shelton and included
everything from 1920's trucks and
30's hot rods to 60's and 70's mus-
cle cars and more.
In fact, club members said they
were so busy with registration and
raffles, they hardly had time to
look at the cars.
Club member Terry Holman
said that the car show started
small 11 years ago, but has only
gotten bigger and bigger.
"Originally we used to donate
to the museum because our club
is non profit," she said. "The first
year we had about 100 cars."
While this year's event had
about 400 registered cars, many
people just brought their cars,
parked them and did not register,
she said.
~Peeple love this show because
it's a $10 donation and all of the
proceeds go to the historical soci-
ety,~ Holman said.
This year the show had more
than $5,000 in raffles and prizes,
50 trophy categories, a poker walk
and an ice cream social at the mu-
seum, among other activities.
The show is also unique, club
members said, because there are
so many categories for prizes.
"We're open to anything, there's
usually a category to cover it," Hol-
man said.
While many such events have
vendors, Holman said that the Yes-
teryear Car Club prefers to focus
on existing businesses downtown.
All of the proceeds from the
event go to the Mason County His-
torical Society, Holman said.
=Last year we made over $8,000
- with $2,000 to $3,000 coming
from the raffle alone," she.said.
