"If the county fair ... ended there wouldn't be a qual- ifying fair anywhere near here," she said. "By keep- ing the county fair alive, we have guaranteed spots for kids at the state fair- the Puyallup fair." This year, now that the fair is back up and running and designated as a qualifying fair, the focus is back on building programs, and Hansen said a great way to encourage people to participate in the fair is to have contests and cash prizes. "If you have a cash prize, a lot more people are going to enter," she said. As part of her drive to get more kids involved with the fair, the Fair Affair will also have arts and crafts stations for kids at the event to create entries for the fair. All the money raised at tonight's Fair Affair will go towards those programs, Hansen said. Hansen shared this recipe for "Nanaimo" dessert bars: Layer 4 squares semi-sweet chocolate (1 oz. each) and butter over low heat. Cool. Once cool, but over second layer and chill in refrigerator. : ,". :(~ BiS'd'S ~ available at, World Caleb Allen Newton Caleb Allen Newton was born June 9, 2011 at Mason General Hospital in Shelton to Julie Simpson and Scott Newton of Shel- ton.
