Journal Isabella Breda Allyn Pizza to open this summer By Isabella Breda isabe//a@masoncounty com Allyn is getting its first pizzeria. Allyn Pizza will be near the US. Post Office and Margaritas, and is slated to open by August, pending final inspection and clearance. “I chose Allyn because it didn’t have nothing like it down there,” owner Ron Butler said. “I know peo- ple in Allyn don’t like driving to Belfair (for pizza). Once you get off the road it might take you 20 min— utes one way.” A career plumber and now owner of Clean N Rooter plumbing in Bremerbon, Butler said in his free time he has “always liked dabbling in things,” and pizza was his next project. Butler has had the vision to bring a pizzeria to Allyn for almost a year, and alter collaborating with his colleagues that own Union Camp Pizza and Fairgrounds Pizza in Kitsap County, Butler said he crafted his own special recipe. GUEST In addition to hand-tossed pizzas and calzones, the pizzeria will serve wings, bone-in or boneless, breadsticks, hot sub sandwiches, french fries and a variety of fresh salads. Pizza prices range from $10.95 to $26.95 for an 18-inch pizza with “the works.” While the COVID-19 pandemic set back But- ler’s first and second target open dates, he has al- ready hired and started training a full staff of local youths. “I kinda like the idea that it gets teens the op: portunity to start working and keep them off the streets and out of trouble,” Butler said. “When I was growing up the only thing was farm (labor) or going to get in trouble.” The restaurant will have indoor and outdoor seating, however Butler plans to remain open for takeout only during the pandemic. “I don’t want no- body to get sick,” Butler said. Other frequent injuries caused by fireworks are from holding, leaning, lighting or relighting fireworks. This also includes lighting fireworks that are faulty. Having a designated place to light your fireworks, never holding a lit firework, and staying a safe distance away from lit fireworks are the best ways to stay safe. Also, never in a cleared, open area, away from cars and buildings and to always keep a bucket of water nearby. Do not throw used fire- works directly into a trash can because this could cause a fire as well. Soak used fireworks for a minimum of 20 minutes be- fore putting them in the trash.
