Allyn Pizza to open this summer
By Isabella Breda

Allyn is getting its first pizzeria.
Allyn Pizza will be near the US. Post Office
and Margaritas, and is slated to open by August,
pending final inspection and clearance.
“I chose Allyn because it didn’t have nothing like
it down there,” owner Ron Butler said. “I know peo-
ple in Allyn don’t like driving to Belfair (for pizza).
Once you get off the road it might take you 20 min—
utes one way.”
A career plumber and now owner of Clean N
Rooter plumbing in Bremerbon, Butler said in his
free time he has “always liked dabbling in things,”
and pizza was his next project.
Butler has had the vision to bring a pizzeria to
Allyn for almost a year, and alter collaborating
with his colleagues that own Union Camp Pizza
and Fairgrounds Pizza in Kitsap County, Butler
said he crafted his own special recipe.
GUEST
In addition to hand-tossed pizzas and calzones,
the pizzeria will serve wings, bone-in or boneless,
breadsticks, hot sub sandwiches, french fries and a
variety of fresh salads.
Pizza prices range from $10.95 to $26.95 for an
18-inch pizza with “the works.”
While the COVID-19 pandemic set back But-
ler’s first and second target open dates, he has al-
ready hired and started training a full staff of local
youths.
“I kinda like the idea that it gets teens the op:
portunity to start working and keep them off the
streets and out of trouble,” Butler said. “When I
was growing up the only thing was farm (labor) or
going to get in trouble.”
The restaurant will have indoor and outdoor
seating, however Butler plans to remain open for
takeout only during the pandemic. “I don’t want no-
body to get sick,” Butler said.
Updates regarding operating hours will be avail-
able on the Facebook page @AllynPizza.
Use Fourth of July fireworks safely
our friends here at
North Mason Re-

ity want to ensure that
you and your loved ones
have a fun and safe 4th
of July. Three things we
would like you to know
about firework safety ‘ ‘ ‘
include buying legal fire- By LACEY

legal fireworks that have
been altered to create a
bomb, such as a sparkler
bomb. If you happen to
come across an explosive
device, call 911 to handle
proper disposal.
Both illegal and legal
fireworks pose safety
concerns. In 2019, the
State Fire Marshall’s
relight a dud. If a firework does
not go off when lit, wait 20 min-
utes before handling it again and
then safely dispose of it.
Last year, fireworks were the
cause of 80 fires in Washington.
These fires caused over $564,900
worth of damage. Fireworks
can quickly lead to fires and
destruction of property so it is
imperative to light fireworks off
lighting fireworks, and
avoiding unintentional
fires.
To meet state guidelines,
fireworks must be purchased
from a licensed firework stand
and discharged between June
28 and July 5.. There are also
restrictions on the hours you can
legally discharge fireworks. Visit
our website at northmasonrfa.

more information on the hourly
restrictions.
In Washington, it is consid-
ered a felony to sell, possess,
and] or discharge firecrackers,
bottle rockets, sky rockets, mis-
siles and any explosive devices.
Explosive devices include, M-
80s, M-lO’s, pipe bombs, cherry
bombs, tennis ball bombs and
Office reported 269
firework-related injuries.
Legal fireworks made up 86%
of those injuries. Fireworks can
pose a serious threat to your
health and safety, so it is impor-
tant to use them with extreme
caution.
The leading cause of firework-
related injuries is being too
close or being hit by fireworks or
debris. Other frequent injuries
caused by fireworks are from
holding, leaning, lighting or
relighting fireworks. This also
includes lighting fireworks that
are faulty. Having a designated
place to light your fireworks,
never holding a lit firework, and
staying a safe distance away
from lit fireworks are the best
ways to stay safe. Also, never
in a cleared, open area, away
from cars and buildings and to
always keep a bucket of water
nearby. Do not throw used fire-
works directly into a trash can
because this could cause a fire
as well. Soak used fireworks for
a minimum of 20 minutes be-
fore putting them in the trash.
If possible, soak the remnants
overnight.
Our goal at North Mason Fire
Authority is to keep you as safe
as possible. Please celebrate
responsibly and have wonderful
Fourth of July!
