PRE-SCHOOL EXPLORER
A two-year-old boy from
North Shore enjoyed an early
morning adventure one day last
week but his mother had a few
anxious moments before a happy
ending was reached. The small
boy had crawled into bed with his
mother around 8:30 a.m. The
next thing the mother knew, she
awakened around 10 a.m. and
found her son missing, A chair
had been pushed up to the door,
evidently to enable the child to
reach the doorknob, and he had
taken off, still in his pajamas. It
was raining, but like any true
explorer, the boy hadn't let a
little thing like bad weather deter
him.
After looking around outside,
calling and receiving no answer,
the mother phoned the local
sheriff's office to report him
missing. The call was received at
10:06. The dispatcher alerted
Belfair State Park officials to keep
an eye out and then called a
resident of Snoose Junction to see
if anyone had seen him. They
hadn't but told the dispatcher
that there were several young men
there who would be glad to aid in
a search. Their offer of help was
accepted but by the time they
reached the Lynwood Beach area
where the boy lives another call
had come into the sheriff's office
at 10:28 from a woman at
Cherokee Beach, asking if anyone
had reported a small boy lost. She
said she had a very wet little boy
sitting in her kitchen. The search
was called off and the little boy
was returned to his home, none
the worse for his experience.
