William Cole
Shelton resident William "Bill"
Cole, 79, died on Wednesday, June
13, after suffering from pulmonary
fibrosis for some time.
He was born on June 27, 1927
in Magherafelt,
Northern Ire-
land, to John and
Maud (Houston)
Cole. He at-
tended Belfast
Bible College.
In 1951 at
age 23, he went
with SIM, an
inter-denomi-
national Chris-
tian mission, to
Ethiopia. There
he built schools William
and clinics and Cole
extended evan-
gelistic outreach into remote ar-
eas. He married Edith Shupe and
they raised four boys.
In 1978, they transferred to Su-
dan where he rebuilt clinics and
other mission buildings destroyed
in the Sudanese civil war. While
there he lost his wife through inju-
ries she received in a car accident.
On September 5, 1981 he mar-
ried Linda Banner, a co-worker
in Ethiopia and Sudan born and
raised in Kenya. In 1983, they
transferred to Kenya to work in
the north with tribes and refugees.
In 1993, they came to Shelton and
retired. They regularly visited Mr.
Cole's family in Northern Ireland.
Mr. Cole enjoyed gardening,
fishing, rock hounding, woodwork-
ing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by son
Richard "Rick" Cole. Surviving are
wifu Linda Cole of Shelton; sons,
Ron Cole of Neosho, Missouri, Ken
Cole of Graham and Bill Cole of
Excelsior, Minnesota; daughter,
Becky Cole of Shelton; brother
Tommy Cole of Ballymena, North-
ern Ireland; twin sister, Doreen
Steele of Magherafelt, Northern
Ireland; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held
at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June
21, at the First Baptist Church in
Shelton. Burial will be at Shelton
Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be
made to SIM - USA, P.O. Box
7900, Charlotte, North Carolina
28241. Indicate the donations are
for work in Ethiopia or Sudan.

died on June 27 at Shelton Health
and Rehabilitation Center. She was
64 and a resident of the Dayton-
Matlock area.
She vas born

at the Old Chap-
pell homestead.
She enjoyed
most being bare-
foot and taking
full advantage of
life in nature by
camping, fishing Sandra

her family said.
She had a desire to be carefree and
an even greater heart for critters.
She enjoyed making woodcrafts,
painting, baking, canning and quilt-
ing among other things.
Her family said she was a won-
derful grandmother and time after
time made quilts to show her love to
her grandchildren.

Goldsby, Gerald Geldsby, Dottle
Goldsby, Tonja Creamer and Ron
Larson.

Helen Marie (Austin) Nolan
died of cancer on Friday, June 29,
at her home in Lilliwaup. She was
84 and had lived in Lilliwaup for
20 years.
She was born
on July 23, 1922
in Fishhook,
Illinois, to
Raymond and
Alma (Morris)
Austin.
She married
Harold Robert
"Red" Nolan on
August 31, 1946.
Family came
first with her..
She was also an +
avid baseball fan Helen M.
and attended the Nolan
first Mariners
game in Seattle.
Mrs. Nolan loved hi story, politics,
following current world events,
reading and a good debate. After
retiring, she traveled extensively
in the U.S. and Canada with her
husband in their recreational
vehicle, traveling three times to
Alaska in their vehicle and once
there by cruise ship.
She was a staunch Democrat,
a group leader and volunteer for
Camp Fire Girls in Spokane and
Seattle, a member of Keep Off
Pounds Sensibly and former officer
for Take Off Pounds Sensibly,
Chapter 1225 in Hoodsport.
She was preceded in death by
her parents and brothers Francis
Leo, Harold and Maurice Laverne
Austin.
Surviving are husband Harold
"Red" Nolan of Lilliwaup; son
Michael Nolan of Seattle; daughter
Marcia Nolan of Lilliwaup; brother
Melvin Austin and sister Nancy
Darlene Humke and husband
Russell of Quincy, Illinois;
granddaughter Kristin Marie

A celebration of her life will be

Club House in Lilliwaup.

cer on Monday, July 2, at his home
in Union. He was 53.

Frank Galloway died of natural
causes on Wednesday, June 27, at
Mason General Hospital. He was
68 and had lived in Shelton for 40
years.
He was born

1938 in Abbots-

lumbia, Canada,
to Eldon Gallo-
way and Gold-
ie (Ferguson)
Otremba.
He served in
the Army for 22
years, from 1956
to 1978 and was
a captain at the Frank

January 5, 1958 in Vancouver.
Mr. Galloway was a millworker
and retired in 2000 after working
for 22 years with Simpson Timber
Company.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and

way of Shelton; son Ken Galloway
of Shelton; daughters Bonnie End-
sley and Georgia Lee of Shelton,
Susan Lockyear of Union, Melin-
da Bogue of Rochester and Laura
Tangen of Aberdeen.
Also surviving are brothers Car-
men, Wayne and Jeff Galloway;
sisters Joann Otremba and Don-
alda Johnson; 11 grandchildren,
seven great-grandchildren and
stepfather Ken Otremba.

He worked as a police officer and
paramedic for the city and county
of San Francisco. After eight years,
he moved his family to Grants Pass,
Oregon, and worked for Josephine
County as a deputy sheriff.
In 1986, he moved his family
back to California and went to work
for the California Department of
Corrections.
His family said he was a loving
father and husband whose pen-
chant for music and stories made
him the life of any party.
Surviving are wife Joan Dyer
of Harstine Island; daughter Se-
ana Blair and husband Edward
of Shelton; sons Ron Dyer of Cali-
fornia and Edward Dyer and his
fiancde Kimberly of Shelton; and
grandchildren Ariel, Kieleigh and

Former longtime Shelton resi-
dent Pat D. Lord died of natural
causes on Thursday, June 28, in
Olympia. She was 81 and a resi-
dent of Olympia.

R.EA., a resident of Union, WA, passed
peacefully at his home on Hood Canal
Friday, June 29th. Rick is survived by
loving wife of 27 years, Janet Reid
Rick's family includes children, spouses
grandchildren: Marc, Connie, Eric and
Anderson of Vancouver, WA; Brian, Lisa,
and Erin Anderson of Houston, TX;
Hansen Crozier and Anna Hansen of
WA; Kristen, John, Johan, Ava & Helena
of Seattle, WA; Dana Porter of Kirkland,
and Reid, Debbie, Kayten, Barrett, Abbey
Brock Porter of Sammamish, WA, as well as many friends who
Rick dearly.
Rick was born September 16th, 1932 in Aberdeen, WA, the son
Lilly Maria (Siggstedt) and Henry L. Anderson. Rick was preceded
death by his sister, Lois (L.P.) Pettit of Grayland, WA, in 2003, and
his parents.
Rick had a long and successful career in commercial real
management and trust real estate in the Seattle area, serving as
H President at Bank of America and American Marine Bank. He
worked for University Properties, Sterling Recreation, Vance Cot
Kilroy Corporation and Olympic Savings and Loan. He was a
employee and a trusted advisor to his clients.
He served as President of both the Seattle Building Owners
Managers Association and the Western Washington Chapter of
Institute of Real Estate Management. Civic affiliations
Downtown Seattle Development Association, President's Club,
Chamber of Commerce, Coalition for Affordable Housing,
Athletic Club, Swedish Club, and the Seattle Real Estate Board. He was
life member of Musicians Local Union 360 out of Auburn-Renton.
Rick graduated from Highline High School in Burien, WA, in
and served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He
from the University of Washington in 1957 with a bachelor's degree

While a resident of Hood Canal, Rick was involved in the
Waterwheel Historical Preservation Project and the purchase of

Rick shared his love of the sea with all of those around him.

Richard Henry "Rick" Anderson, C.P.M
R.EA., a resident of Union, WA, passed
peacefully at his home on Hood Canal
Friday, June 29th. Rick is survived by
loving wife of 27 years, Janet Reid
Rick's family includes children, spouses
grandchildren: Marc, Connie, Eric and
Anderson of Vancouver, WA; Brian, Lisa,
and Erin Anderson of Houston, TX;
Hansen Crozier and Anna Hansen of
WA; Kristen, John, Johan, Ava & Helena
of Seattle, WA; Dana Porter of Kirkland,
and Reid, Debbie, Kayten, Barrett, Abbey
Brock Porter of Sammamish, WA, as well as many friends who
Rick dearly.
Rick was born September 16th, 1932 in Aberdeen, WA, the son
Lilly Maria (Siggstedt) and Henry L. Anderson. Rick was preceded
death by his sister, Lois (L.P.) Pettit of Grayland, WA, in 2003, and
his parents.
Rick had a long and successful career in commercial real
management and trust real estate in the Seattle area, serving as
H President at Bank of America and American Marine Bank. He
worked for University Properties, Sterling Recreation, Vance Cot
Kilroy Corporation and Olympic Savings and Loan. He was a
employee and a trusted advisor to his clients.
He served as President of both the Seattle Building Owners
Managers Association and the Western Washington Chapter of
Institute of Real Estate Management. Civic affiliations
Downtown Seattle Development Association, President's Club,
Chamber of Commerce, Coalition for Affordable Housing,
Athletic Club, Swedish Club, and the Seattle Real Estate Board. He was
life member of Musicians Local Union 360 out of Auburn-Renton.
Rick graduated from Highline High School in Burien, WA, in
and served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He
from the University of Washington in 1957 with a bachelor's degree
Business Administration.
While a resident of Hood Canal, Rick was involved in the
Waterwheel Historical Preservation Project and the purchase of
for the New Community Church of Union, WA.
Rick shared his love of the sea with all of those around him.
loved to "putter" around on boats and fish and gather crabs,
oysters and clams. He loved to entertain. He was never
companion to share in his adventures. He was a member of the
Yacht Club, the Seattle Tennis Club and was a founding member of
Three Tree Point Yacht Club. Rick shared his love of music by playing
accordion with many different and talented musicians, forming
bands during a musical career that spanned several decades.

A memorial gathering for friends and family will be held at
family home on Hood Canal on Saturday, July 7th at 1:00 pm. A
memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, July 14th at
Swedish Club at 1920 Dexter Ave. N. in Seattle.
