mer @ SOCK, or S@S.
This program will run from
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Thursdays, be-
ginning July 10 and running
through August 16.
This year's Summer @ SOCK
program continues last year's
theme of "what community means"
by taking field trips, continuing to
develop skills in video production,
and offering volunteer services to
the community.
Participating children will
learn about stewardship of local
watersheds and develop a sense of
place. These elements will be tied
together by creating a play that is
developed by youth and volunteers
based on the local Native Ameri-

the field trips to locations in Ma-
son County.
Field trips to be taken on Tues-
days and Wednesdays will include
swimming, hiking, boating, visit-
ing local tribes, visiting the Point
Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, visit-
ing the Cushman Dam and Theler
Wetlands, cleaning up the Shelton
Skate Park and local ,streams and
trails, and learning about local
watersheds and how they affect
the health of Puget Sound and
Hood Canal.
Thursday sessions will take
place at the SOCK Youth Center
on Franklin Street in downtown
Shelton and include workshops
on: drama improvisation, play de-
velopment and choreography, set
production and costume design,
digital photography, videography,
journaling, craft-making, drum-
making and beats and gardening•
The Willliam G. Reed Library
in Shelton will collaborate with
SOCK this summer by providing
free workshops. Workshop sub-
jects will include: Tie-Dye T-Shirts
and the Fear Factor Challenge
during the Friday Nights @ SOCK
and the Harry Potter and Captain
Underpants celebrations.
Summer @ SOCK is a free pro-
gram run by SOCK staff and vol-

Field trips to be taken on Tues-
days and Wednesdays will include
swimming, hiking, boating, visit-
ing local tribes, visiting the Point
Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, visit-
ing the Cushman Dam and Theler
Wetlands, cleaning up the Shelton
Skate Park and local ,streams and
trails, and learning about local
watersheds and how they affect
the health of Puget Sound and
Hood Canal.
Thursday sessions will take
place at the SOCK Youth Center
on Franklin Street in downtown
Shelton and include workshops
on: drama improvisation, play de-
velopment and choreography, set
production and costume design,
digital photography, videography,
journaling, craft-making, drum-
making and beats and gardening•
The Willliam G. Reed Library
in Shelton will collaborate with
SOCK this summer by providing
free workshops. Workshop sub-
jects will include: Tie-Dye T-Shirts
and the Fear Factor Challenge
during the Friday Nights @ SOCK
and the Harry Potter and Captain
Underpants celebrations.
Summer @ SOCK is a free pro-
gram run by SOCK staff and vol-
