ExClimber Britt
hires on at 0SU
ExClimber volleyball star
Brittany Cahoon of Shelton has
morphed formally into manage-
ment this summer following the
recent completion of her playing
career at Oregon State Univer-
sity.
The Pac-10 all-leaguer by way
of Climberville was hired late last
month as director of volleyball at
her OSU alma mater.
"We are very excited to get Britt
onboard," says Beaver coach Taras
Liskevych, who coached Britt her
junior and senior seasons in Cor-
vallis. "She has wonderful insight
of the program from the player's
perspective. I had an excellent
chance to witness her organiza-
tional abilities during the Wil-
lamette Volleyball Classic last
month."
Britt, who completed her eligi-
bility at OSU last fall, finished her
career as one of the Beavers' most
prolific blockers in history, finish-
ing 12th on the all-time list with
246 total blocks. The six-footer
also wrapped up her career with
594 kills to rank among the top 30
offensive players in OSU history.
"This is an exciting opportuni-
ty to continue to work with great
coaches," says the exClimber.
"Moving from the player role to
part of the volleyball staffwill be a
wonderful experience, and I'm ex-

"To be part of that growth just
makes the anticipation that much
better."
Ms. Cahoon graduated from Or-
egon State this year with a degree
in health and human services. She
minored in athletic administra-
tion.
Track's Pacers Cheerleading
do Tumwater tryouts set
Age-group cheerleading's non-
profit Shelton All Star Cheer or-
ganization has announced it will
have open tryouts all summer.
Eligible are all kids ages 4-18,
Tumbling classes are available
as well.
The young cheerleaders' meet-
ing place is at 2921 Northview
Circle, behind Shelton's Oil Can
Henry's.
Parents need to be at the meet-
ing to sign release waivers at the
beginning of each class, remind
organizers.

like to volunteer your services, call

Grid Kings'
Age-group track's Shelton Pac-
ers went five strong to another
all-comers' meet in Tumwater this
past week.
ExClimber star and St. Martin's
College alum Chris Carpenter set
a new Pacer record with a second-
place performance in the men's
open division of the 1600 meters,
clocking a 4:50.4.
Cody Van Sickle and Cody Wil-
kes also represented the Pacers in
the metric mile, registering times
of 5:50.5 and 6:06.5, respectively.
Diego Adamski placed first for
Shelton in the kids' division of the
800 meters, stopping the clock at
2:55.1.
And fellow Pacer Michael Wor-
man took first in his age division
with a 13.14-second performance
in the 100 meters.

Pre-registration for the Shel-
ton Kings' 2007 age-group football
season has been set for July 14
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Shel-
ton Library.
Eligible are all kids 7 through
14 years of age, and they'll need to
display birth-certificate copies and
pay their registration fees at the
time of sign-up.
Those fees are $85 for kids 7-12
years old and $100 for those 13-14.

"least-putts" competition June 27.
First division - Judy Burke and Marsha
Woodburne tied for first and Kathy Johnson
and Cheryl Ulrich tied for second.
Second division - Charlotte Ockerman and
Molly Frazier tied for first and Sally Ganter second.
Third division - Judy Ksiffer, Bettie Sheep and
Sandy Palmer tied for first and Betty Byerly sec-
ond.
