Chip-ins - Sue Wilson (4th hole), Elaine Close (gth), Jerene Smart (14th) and Betty Byerly (14th). 81-year-old aces Bayshore Eighty-one-year-old golfer Harry Leeberg of Tumwater reg- istered a hole-in-one at Bayshore last week. The visiting retiree aced the 166-yard seventh hole during a practice round with Shelton's Fred Wiggins and Robert Halfhill. He used his driver, "because I can't hit very far anymore," quipped the 19-handicapper, who's been play- ing the game 25 years now. It was the third hole-in-one of Harry's career. He aced his first one in Mesa, Arizona, back in 1991, he says, and then registered #2 just this past March in Yelm. "And at my age I don't look to get many more," he says, laughing. And was this one as exciting as the others? "Oh! You bet!" says the retired beerman, who worked at the Olym- pia Brewery for fully 35 years. Incidentally, he adds, last week's memorable stroke ap- peared initially to be nothing more than errant. "We looked for five minutes to find that ball!" he says. "Finally Fred says, 'Look in the darn cup!'" Limerick Lake Limerick's lady 18-holers hosted their annual 36-hole Part- ner Best Ball Tournament June 20 and 27. The results: First - Betty Dean & Lesley Robertshaw- Mosley, 120. Second (tie) - Gayle Wilcox & Barb Eber- hardt and Ann Johnson & Adele Scott, 125. Third - Marie Bierward & Mary Lou Traut- mann, 127. Coed tourney to turn 22 Conehead classic's a.comin' Coed softball's annual Conehead Invitational will turn 22 next month, and it's 'time to get on the guest list tbr marking the occasion personally. So announces veteran director Chuck Robertson this week as the countdown approaches one month to the day. "This will be a six-team round- robin tournament," says Robertson of the July 21-22 affair, which will be held as always in bucolic Calla- nan Park. "All teams will play five games." The team entry fee of $175 is payable to him at 903 W Frank- lin Street in Shelton, adds the director. Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve a spot for your team, says Robertson, give him a call at 426- 8620. Tourney rules include the fol- lowing: • ten-run rule - not 12-, * three pitches - not four, * extra innings - no coin flip or tie-breaker to determine winner of game, . progressive home-run rule - excess over-the-fence home run will count as a pitch, and * men and women will hit the regulation-size softball - no small ball.
