"'"" ""ends ObituaJqe8 chief's convention The Washington State Superintendent Gordon Vickery Association of Fire Chiefs, Inc. held its annual conference this year in Bellevue, attended by Shelton Fire Chief Allan Nevitt. Meetings began June 26 and lasted four days. Former Mayor Robert Anderson of Everett and Dr. John Demidovich of Ohio discussed the need for sophisticated management skills for a fire chief. Representative Bill Bums, analyst Fred Hellberg and lobbyist Pat Gallagher discussed how the legislative process affects the fire service and the most effective methods of influencing significant legislation. Seattle City Light IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII and Western Fire Journal Editor Dick Friend spoke on media management and effective communications with the press. KOMO television, The Seattle Times and KMPS radio representatives participated in a presentation and panel discussion on media attitudes toward the fire service and building trust between the two fields. Toxic spills and where the consequential responsibility lies were addressed by the chief of the Environmental Emergency Section. Also, Martin Boyd from National Foam relayed information regarding the basics of foam. Emergency Medical Service standards for EMT and paramedic personnel were presented by Dr. Michael Copass Ida M. Beeman Ida Marie Beeman of Seattle, 69, died on June 18. Vigil services were held at 7:30 p.m. on June 21 in Moses Funeral Home, Ferndale, and Mass of Christian Burial was said at 11 a.m. on the following day in St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Ferndale. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Beeman was the wife of Brigadier General A.W. "Jeff" Beeman and the mother of William of Lummi Island. She was the sister of Mabel Clements of Dallas, Oregon, and the grandmother of Brenda Beeman of Brewster. Her father was one of the bosses when the pulp mill opened in June of 1927. Ida LeBolt Beeman was a telegraph operator in Shelton in the early 1930s. Mrs. Beeman was past president of the U.S. Army Officers Women's Club in Heidelberg, Germany. She was a Gray Lady in European military hospitals after World War II. Helen Hassinger Union area. High temperatures will range from 75 to 85 degrees with lows ranging from 45 to 55 degrees. A service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Batstone Funeral Home for Helen F. Hassinger, 82, who died last Thursday in Mason General Hospital. Elder Richard Mellema officiated with interment in Shelton Memorial Park. Mrs. Hassinger was born November 6, 1895 in Stafford, Kansas. Her husband, Irwin, preceded her in death in 1960, and prior to that time Mrs. Hassinger had made her home in Oklahoma, Southern California, Eastern Washington and Seattle. In 1974 she came from Everett to Shelton. After attending Northwest Normal in Oklahoma, Mrs. Hassinger was employed as a schoolteacher. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving her are two daughters, Florine Wicken of Shelton and Lola Hanna of Corvallis, Oregon; a son, George Hassinger of Kent; a sister, Donna Miller of Medford, Oregon; a brother, Austin Snyder of Pomona, California; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. J.H. Holland J.H. Holland, born October 14, 1901 in Oakville, Washington, died Saturday in Mason General Hospital. A resident of Shelton most of his life, Mr. Holland was a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge No. 11. He was retired from Simpson Timber Company. Survivors include his wife, Rose, of Shelton; a son, R.D. Holland of Union; four granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. No services will be held. Alan M. Kimball Alan M. Kimball died Monday in Mason General Hospital at the age of 69 years. He was born August 26, 1908 in Vermillion, South Dakota. For the past 34 years Mr. Kimball had made his home in Shelton, and had retired from Simpson Timber Company as a millworker. Surviving him are his wife, Winifred, of Shelton; five sons, Morton and George of Tacoma and David, Jim and Tom, all of Shelton; a daughter, Cathy Velcoski of Aberdeen; a brother, Robert Kimball of Phoenix, Arizona; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Father Michael Feeney will officiate at private family services to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Batstone Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Evergreen Washelli Cemetery, Seattle. Harry Wheeler Harry Orville Wheeler, 30, died on Friday as the result of an auto accident that occurred five miles from Raymond. Mr. Wheeler, a resident of ShaRon for the past 11 years, was employed as a custodian for the Shelton School District. He was born in Aberdeen on April 28, 1948.
