Lumbermen's expluded tot

Monday night's Little League
Senior Division championship
game to beat Manke & Sons 4-2.

the sixth which scored the only
two Manke runs, but put out the
side in order in the sevemh to ice
the game.
Manke look the lead in Ihe
contest when Dave Steensen and
Dave Trail both singled to lead off
the sixlh and were plaled by Mike
Smilh's smashed double to
left-center. They were the only
scores Manke ,could muster,
allhough the losers had al least
one man on base in every inning
except the seventh.
Lumbermen's swiped the lead
buck in the bottoin of the sixth
when they bombed Carlson for
four lilts. Burgess led off with a
double. Three batters later, Kevin
Ridout singled to-score both
LaMent and Lang, which gave the
Lumbcrmen's the two-run edge
lhey kept.
Manke left 13 men on the
bags in the game, unable to cash
in on potential runs.
Lumbermen's left six men on the
bases. Dion got out of a mess in
the first stanza when Manke had
Ihe bases loaded with one out. He
fanned one batter for the second
Division championship game to
give Moose a 5.3 win over
Simpson Recreation Association.
O'Dell's homer made him the
winning pitcher of the game. Lane
Jackstadt and O'Dell were the
Moose pitchers; Phil Franklin and
Mike Cross threw for SRA, Cross
taking the loss.
Moose's Danielson and O'Dell
were both three for four at the
plate, with O'Dell collecting a
double as well as his home run.
Boys and girls from Mason
County competed in the junior
championship qualifying track
meet Thursday at Highclimber
Stadium with the winners
advancing to the state meet. The
Shelton Jaycees, who sponsored
the ineet, will take the youngsters
to the state championships July
14 at Edmonds.
The turnout wasn't as large as
was hoped for, but it was the first
year the meet was held in Mason
County, and the sponsors look for
a larger field next year.
Competition was in three
divisions: the prep, or 13- and
14-year-Dials; intermediate, for 15-
and 16-year-olds; and senior, for
17- and 18-year-olds.

were Barry Gesche and Jim
Hillier. Hillier won the high jump
on fewer jumps when both
cleared 5'10", and Geschc won
the triple jump.
