Ifair fire department
rts annual fund drive
August, is to raise approximately
$4,500 needed to purchase 15
new firefighting clothing sets.
Equipment to be bought includes
new coats, pants, gloves, boots,
and helmets.
Fire Chief Barry Snorer says
the new equipment is needed to
bring the department firefighting
clothing up to state standards.
Although the department is
manned by volunteers and state
requirements apply only to
full-time firefighters, Snover says
the department is seeking the
new equipment "not only as an
additional safeguard for our
firefighters, but there's a good
chance the same state regulation
will soon also apply to
volunteers.
"We're trying to avoid
getting hit unexpectedly with the
cost of reoutfitting our
fire fighters."
Cans for donations will be
left in businesses throughout the
fire district. Snorer says car
washes are also planned to raise
money. In September a horse
show by the local' Green Acres
4-H Horse lub is tentatively
scheduled to help the district
raise funds.

wouldn't ten or so be nice?
It wasn't.
It wouldn't clear, and it had
a bitter edge. A year, and then
another, in the jug, racked,
aerated, treated with gels and
clays to clarify it, it remained
muddy and unappealing.
I was sure it was the work of
an unquiet teetotaler spirit in the

We meant to throw it out,

And it has reappeared after
six years a mellow and
