Remembering Rayonier's presence
Admiring the photography exhibit com-
memorating Rayonier's 80th anniver-
sary are former Shelton research center
employee Andrew Bedlik and his wife
Shirley, along with wildlife biologist Dan
Varland, a current Rayonier employee.
Varland will present the conclusion to a
series of lectures addressing Rayonier's
industry, fan Thompson gave the first
lecture last month, briefly describing
the company's history. Justin Knobel
offered the following session, outlining
how silviculture works, on July 18. Var-
land's discussion will deal with wildlife
and forestry on industrial forestland in
Western Washington. He will talk at 7
p.m. Wednesday, August 29, at the Ma-
son County Historical Society Museum.
The photo display, entitled, "A Walk in
the Woods: 80 Years of Rayonier," will
remain at the museum at Fifth and Rail-
road downtown until September 3.
Adopt-a-Pet
Adopt-a-Pet is a nonprofit volun-
teer group whose placement services,
kennels and spay-neuter assistance
program are tinanced through month-
ly garage sales heht on tbe second
Saturday of the month at 210 Grove
Street. All dogs are vet-checked and
spayed or neutered.
Call 432-3091 to set up a kennel
visit. To donate items call 426-4269.

Feline Friends
Feline Friends is a nonprofit vol-
unteer group whose mission is rescu-
ing and tinding homes for homeless,
abused or abandoned cats and kittens.
The group provides foster care in vol-
unteers' homes until the animals can
be placed in permanent homes. Adop-
tion fee includes spay-neuter service,
feline AIDS test and parasite control.
To adopt a kitten or adult cat, call
426-2588 or 360-866-0599. Donations
are accepted at P.O. Box 27, Shelton,
98584.
Kitten Rescue
Kitten Rescue of Mason County is
a nonprofit volunteer group which res-
cues and finds homes for abandoned
kittens. Adoption fee includes spay-
neuter service, tbline leukemia test
and immunizations. Quarterly garage
sales support the group. For informa-
tion on kitties available for 'adoption
or to donate items tbr the garage sales,
call 426-2455 or go to www.kitten-
resq.net.

Shar-Pei mix, about 2 years old,
that loves people. "She loves
playing with the other dogs
in our large play yard. Stuba
would make a wonderful pet
for a family with other dogs
and children to play with," a

quires a secure environment
