THE TWO BIBLICAL RESURRECTIONS
The First Resurrection - Part 1
No. 128 Ethel B. Dinning
"AS IN ADAM ALL DIE, SO IN CItRIST SIfALL ALL BE
MADE ALIVE" (1 Cor. 15:22).
"'FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATIt BUT TttE GIFT
OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CItRIST
OUR LORD" (Rom. 6:23).
The promise of the resurrection is as old as the first sil
(Gen. 3:15).
It was renewed to Abraham at his call and trial {(;on.
22:1-12, Jas. 2:21, 3, Heb. 11:16-19}.
Job, in the midst of his trial before the universe,
understood it and was strengthened (Job 14:5-14, 19:25-27,
Chaps. 1-3 and 42, 1:22, 2:10, Jas. 3:11, 42:11).
The resurrection of Moses was given to assure Israel of
Christ's death and resurrection and of" the surety of their own
resurrection if faithful (Jude 9, Rein. 5:10-14, Luke 20:27, 1
Cot. 10:2). It gave a new impetus to the preparation Jbr the
CHRIST to come (Heb. 11:39-12:2, Rein. 5:18-21, llosea
13:14).

opened many graves down in the lower ciO, and many special
believing dead were cast out on the ground, causing weekend
defilement at the Passover (of all timesJ (Matt. 27:52, Lay. 22:4,
Num. 5:2). Then Sunday morning when CHRIST was awakened
by the angel and taken at once to heaven to be anointed for
HIS new kingship BY HIS FATHER (Heb. 1:1-3, 8, 9, Matt.
28:1-7, Mark 24:1-7, Jn. 20:11-18). The dead bodies came to
life and were used to proclaim the news to their friends
throughout Jerusalem (Matt. 27:53).
Even the soldiers were used to proclaim that HE WAS THE
SON OF GOD (Matt. 27:54).
Thus Christ fulfilled the promises of the Old Testament and
also laid the foundation for the new message to prepare for I/IS
RETURN when all the righteous dead will be raised and with
the prepared living will be taken to heaven for the millenium
period (1 Thess. 4:16, 17, Matt. 24:30, 1, Jn. 5:28, 9, 1 Cot:
15:19-23, Luke 14:14).
The bodies will be changed (1 Cor. 15:42-44, Is. 17:15,
Phil 3:20, 21, Luke 20:36, Matt. 24:31).
"THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE FIRST, TttEN WE
WHICH ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN SHALL BE CAUGHT UI'
TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR" (1 Thess. 4:16, 17).
