To the good among his descendants home is paradise." -DL The Shelton Jaycees recently completed one of their most interesting community-service projects during the year. This project was the transportation of the Forest Festival Queen's Float to neighboring parades. The Jaycees recently transported the float to Olympia's Lakefairand McCleary's Bear Festival. With Queen Theresa Trimble and the princesses aboard, the float won second place in cities 5,000 to 25,000 population at Lakefair, and first place at McCleary. Mell Chevrolet and Jim Pauley Ford furnished the vehicles to the Jaycees to tow the two-piece float to each parade. The Jaycees participating were Gene Caldwell, chairman; Bill Morris, float driver; Dick Andrews, Bob Strachila:Ward Forrer, Jerry Swartos, Gary Plews, Jack Webber and Dick Wonner. A Republican, in the 1966 elections she defeated Charles Savage, Shelton Democrat, in a close race to be elected state representative from the 24th legislative district. The Port Townsend candidate and former legislator indicated she would announce her campaign workers and headquarters' locations in the three counties of the district during the next few weeks.
