llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllIllllllllllll The Mason County Commission, after hearing objections from several neighboring property owners to a proposed dock and boat moorage float for Frank G. Brewer on Hood Canal, delayed a decision on a shoreline management permit for the project. Several persons appeared at the hearing, stating that a floating dock, as is used by many others, would be preferable to a dock on piling as Brewer is proposing. The commission was told the proposed dock was 171 feet long out into the water and that it, along with a proposed expansion of the deck on the house, would interfere with the view of other property owners. Margaret Livingston, representing the Hood Canal Environmental Council, told the commission that group was opposing the proposed dock. She urged the commission to set uniform criteria for docks on the canal. The commission told developers of the Blue Heron Condominium to get a plat of the project on file as soon as possible and that sales were not permissible until the plat is filed. An attorney for the developers told the commission that problems which came up after file property was acquired at a foreclosure sale were being ironed out as fast as possible and that a plat will be Cried as soon as the problems are cleared away. The commission asked the developers to keep the county informed of what progress is being made. 1/2" x 4' x 8' . ............. They were unfamiliar with the operation of the boat. Shepherd said Brooks, who had just finished a shift as a dispatcher, volunteered to take his personal boat out to see if assistance was needed and that Mattson, who had just finished a shift as a trainee in the jail office, had volunteered to assist. The two deputies contacted the boat and guided the mother and daughter to Fair Harbor where they checked the safety equipment and advised Mrs. Heaberlin to refuel and provided her with a proper course to return to Steilacoom after daylight. Then then contacted the woman's son and advised him what time his mother and sister would be arriving the next day. Boat speed hearing is held The Mason County Commission again postponed a decision on a petition for a speed limit on boats on Haven, Wooton and Tee Lakes after hearing from both proponents and opponents at a second session of a hearing Monday morning. The commission had held a hearing on the petition previously and had continued it to the date this week. Proponents of the request for i a five mile an hour speed limit are fishermen and swimmers while those opposing it are those interested in waterskiing. The speed limit would eliminate waterskiing. Recommendations were heard to consider each lake individually and to consider limiting hours for waterskiing on the lakes to the midday hours. A petition from property owners at Haven Lake was presented, asking that they be allowed to continue the way they are at present under their own rules, which are enforced by the property owners association and a reserve deputy sheriff who has property on the lake.
