Journal's opinion poll was four to
10, the majority feeling they are
not well represented by their
legislators.
Four persons said legislators
were not able to represent them
because of lobbyists or special
interest groups, such as big
business. Two other persons felt
the officials do not work hard
enough.
Of the four persons who felt
they are heard by the legislators,
two of them said it is difficult to
represent everyone's views all the
time.
Bruce Jocgenson, radio station
owner, South 4th and West
Satsop - You can say only
partially, because they really blew
the school issue, although it did
finally come to their attention,
but only because of Seattle. They
finally did address it, but they
didn't take care of it. I can't say
when they did anything great for
my permnal int est.
Carl Larson, payroll de,k,
Mud Bay - I would say so. They
seem to be cognizant of the little
people's problems. You hear they
look more and more into small
problems - not so much big
business, but smaller people's
problems more and more all the
time. Whether they come up with
the right answers is something
different. But they are trying, I'd
say.
Linda Andermn, housewife,
P.O. Box 112 - Not all of them,
no. I don't think they Consult the
public enough before they pass
their laws. I'm sure that some of
them do, but I don't study up on
it enough.
Norma Tiffany, registered
nurse, P.O. Box 144 - Not
always. They can sometimes be
swayed by special interest groups.
That may not be what the

majority wants. Perhaps I feel
that they may try to serve all of
us, but it's not always possible for
them to accomplish.
Rudolph Purse, retired
executive, Fawn Lake - I didn't
vote for the ones who are doing a
lousy job. Fm disappointed in the
ones I voted for. Of course
they're in the minority, but they
could be more active. I don't
think our legislators are interested
in the public. I think they're
interested in their special clients.
Dorothy Bunnell, head teller,
Rt. 10, Box 660 - It depends
which legislator you're talking
about. You vote them in and
hope that they serve your best
interest. I think that most of
them around here do serve the
people that vote them in. I think
they try.
Bob Phillips, examiner of
questioned documents, Hartstene
Pointe - 1 hope they do. So far, I
think they've done the best job
they can. A politician's job is a
hard one. You can't serve
everybody satisfactorily. I think
it's up to the people to make the
decisions come voting time.
Watson Ross, barber, Olympia
- I don't think so. It seems like
the laws they should pass, they
argue about and don't pass. They
spend too much time loafing and
not getting down to work. The
main thing that I dislike is the
raise in property taxes.
Debby Moqpm, waitre~, 1304
May - I don't think they
represent everyone's best interests
- not the majority, that's for
sure. They represent most of my
opinions, but not all of them. I
only disagree with a few of the
things they vote in.
Jo Lusignan, housewife, 1207
Roy - No, everything gets
shuffled together. Too many
things come before them in too
short a time, so that they are
passed without careful thought.
Randy Bracy, auto parts man,
Rt. 3, Box 91 - No, not really. I
don't feel they're doing that great
of a job. They're not getting
across what I think they should
be doing.
Ernest Harmon, jewelry
wholesaler, Seattle - No, because
1 think they sell out to big
business. And, of course, they're
going to represent them.
Mrs. L. B. Ellison, housewife,
Bayshore - I think they could get
things done a lot faster if there
weren't so many lobbyists, and it
would probably be better for
them and the people, too.
Wilnm George, substitute mail
carrier, P.O. Box 113 - No,
because they just sit over there
not doing anything. They haven't
passed any bills that helped
anybody so far. Our taxes are way
too high. They have to do
something about the schools. On
and on, you know.
