win over Arnold and Smith in Saturday's district tournament
for women's fastpitch teams at Callanan Park. S.I.T.E. placed
second in the tourney to advance to the state tourney with

League-leading Dotettes swept
through the winner's bracket of
last week's district fastpitch
tournament for women held in
Shelton to capture the title.
Dotettes and S.I.T.E. (second
place finisher) go to the state
tournament in two weeks. In
third place was Mama's;
Merchants was fourth; Gypos was
fifth; Day and Sons sixth and
Arnold and Smith seventh.
Dotettes creamed Gypos 24-1
in its opening game, then crushed
S.I.T.E. 9-3. S.I.T.E. came back
through the losers' bracket in the
double elimination tourney and
upset Dotettes 7-6 in the first
championship game before
Dotettes dealt the final blow to
S.I.T.E. in the second
championship game, 14-6.
S.I.T.E. played six games and
won all but those two with
Dotettes. The S.I.T.E. team
dumped Arnold and Smith 16-10
in its opener, beat Day and Sons
9-5, dropped its third game to
Dotettes, plastered Mama's 17-11,
then split games five and six with
Dotettes.
All games in the tourney were
held at Callanan Park.
Ten All-Stars were picked at
the tournament. Cinda Johnson
of Mama's was the Most Valuable
Player. Others were Merchants
centerfielder Kim Goidsby,
Mama's centerfielder Paulette
Miller, S.I.T.E. centerfieider Vicki
Taylor, Dotettes shortstop Bey
Hillman, S.I.T.E. third

in the King division of the Simpson Salmon Derby this
week by landing a 23-1b. 4-oz. fish in Hood Canal. First

albert, 13, and Phillip Kieburtz, 14, had a good day on
the Olympia golf inks. Halbert shot 39 and Kieburtz 40 on
the nine. Surfboarding is becoming a favorite activity on
