WHEN QUINCY, above, and Corn joined my household at
the age of seven weeks they were soft and sweet and
roly-poly and somewhat saddened by the parting from their
parents.
TRAINING WAS begun at once, and at the tender age of
ten weeks they were walking nicely on the leash
(sometimes).

with interest and amazement erroneous idea that she

protection work.

Androcles and the ion"
"Have you roared today? comedia del art•" presentations,
When a lion asks that question,
everyone answers with roars of
laughter and song in Capitol
Contemporary Theatre's
presentation for children of
"Androcles and the Lion."
CCT began its season with a
Sunday matinee on Saturday, at
Gloria De• Lutheran Church,
1515 Harrison, Olympia, where
two performances of "Androcles
and the Lion" will be presented
on July 29. Curtain times will
be at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Tickets will be available at the

to hostess
annual picnic
Effie Avery will be hostess at
a potluck picnic to be held for
her friends on Tuesday in
Kneeland Park beginning at 9
a.m.
This is the twelfth annual
picnic given by Mrs. Avery, who
invites each of her friends to
bring a friend.
"Androcles and the Lion" tells
the story of a man befriending a
lion and gaining a friend in
return.
Directed by Nikki Z. Pfouts,
"Androcles and the Lion"
features a talented and versatile
cast. From Olympia comes Jeff
Kingsbury as Androcles. Michelle
Kerl appears as the Lion, and
Vicki Brewer is Isabelle. Shelton
offers us the talents of David
Wishart as Pantolone, and Chuck
Abemathy and Brian Poe as Lelio
and the Captain, respectively.
Kingsbury, whom the
audience might recognize as the
head of the Lakefair clowns, has
long been associated with CCT
productions. He has also
appeared in Olympia High
School and Harlequin
presentations.
Kerl, presently a student at
Western State University, is also
a regular member of the CCT
cast, and has starred in many
local productions.
Abemathy, from the "Jolly
Jesters" of Shelton, along with
Poe, Wishart and Brewer, lend
their talents and experience to
make "Androcles and the Lion"
a joyously memorable experience
for young and old alike.
DAVID WISHART of Shelton is appearing in th
Contemporary Theater of Olympia production of
and the Lion.
