The local gals were not to be

a perfect sacrific bunt and
Goldsby came home with the
team's seventh and go ahead run.
In the bottom half of the
inning, needing only to shut the
door to win, the Ladies came up
with a defensive gem to deny
Rainier its apparent
come-from-behind rally.
With one out and a runner at
second, Rainier pitcher Donna
Regan grounded sharply to
shortstop Allen. Marci made the
play cleanly, firing to firstbagger
Dickinson to register out number
two.
Meanwhile, the Rainier
baserunner at second had broken

the time Dickinson made the
putout at first, but Jeanne let fly
nonetheless.
Her crossfield peg was right

Hartley deftly applied the tag for

Against the Wenatchee

innings and the seventh - and

the game was history. Shady
Ladies bowed ,o,t with th e

As for that accomplishment,
Manager Wright saw it as a
particularly heady one
considering the opposition.
"We're a single-A team," he said.
"Why, we'd never even played an
AA team before. And their
pitchers were throwing curveballs
and all."
In addition to lauding the
stellar play of Cole, Wright spoke
highly of several of his girls.
One, of course, was Dickinson,
for her overall play and
especially her defensive
game-winner against Rainier.
"Having the presence of
mind to make a perfect
cross field throw in a pressure
situation like that was really
something," he said.
"And Marci Allen really
played a super tournament."
Wright also had to mention
the play of his wife, Jeanee. She
led the team in base thefts,
stealing three in game three
alone, and rated special
