-Heard a letter from Rural
Garbage Service, a private
enterprise, which would like to
perform the service that the city
does now in the collection of
garbage. Godat told the
commission that the company is
quite large and has the capacity to
pick up dumpboxes (which the
city can't do) and that might
make service to commercial
accounts cheaper.
-Set a public hearing for 2
p.m. on August 12 for review of
the city's six-year construction
program (1975-1981).
-Learned that the Shelton
Springs Road from the new high
school to the city limits would
soon be paved and would look
similar to the county's portion of
the road. The dry will pay
prongs
$17,900 for the 900-plus feet of
paving and the city's one-half cent
gas tax money will be used to pay
for it.
-Sent the information on
forming a limited improvement
district for street paving to a
bonding attorney so that the
attorney Can prepare an
ordinance. Paving is proposed for
Oak from Elk to Magnolia; Birch
from Bear to Otter; Wyandotte
from Seventh to Eighth; Euclid
from Eighth to Ninth; and E from
Laurel to Jefferson. The
commission had a hearing at
which questions were answered
and approvals and protests of the
project were heard. Protests to
stop the project should be made
in writing to the city commission
as soon as possible.
