SHELTON POLICE At 7:15 Monday two officers were walking in the area of Goldsborough Creek near Fifth when they observed several white styrofoam cups (48 in all) in two cardboard boxes. Each cup contained small marijuana plants. Some cups had more than one plant. One hundred plants were involved. They were brought to the police department, tagged, a restroom at Callanan Park, was gone when she returned to find it. A citizen said a female dog was in heat in her neighboH~ood and male dogs were congregating in large packs around her residence in the 1700 block of Pioneer Way. She said she weald like to have the dogs picked up. Jim Hilderman reported a windshield hit by a rock or BB when he was northbound on First Street at Harvard. A woman reported site got :j call from a male who said that hc "had had it with her" and tl:erl hung up without identifying himself. An anonymous female reported at 2 a.m. Saturday that, having just heard a loud crash on Second Street near Cota, she looked in that direction and observed a male moving away from the Coast to Coast Store window and at the same tinrc heard someone say, "He put his foot through the window." Tire woman said the subject left the 'scene in an orange Volkswagen Rabbit. At 2:10 a.m., police contacted two guys in an orange VW Rabbit at Fifth and Railroad and believed them to be the ones responsible, since one was still bleeding from a minor laceration on one arm. But the two didn't admit anything. Contact may be made with these two at a soon date, the police report stated. Dorothy Harper reported things stolen from her car while she ate at the Min~'. Trcc ('~f~'. An anonymous person reported too many cats in the neighborhood of Center and Ellinor. A Honda Trail 90 motorbike was reported stolen at 10:30 Sunday night and was recovered shortly thereafter. An attendant at the Bingers gas station called the police at 3: 18 a.m. Friday to report that he had just sold 50 cents worth of gasoline to two nude females in a yellow Volkswagen. The police tried to contact the subjects, but had no luck. A sheriff's deputy found the vehicle on Highway 108 with a partially clad male and a nude female in it. The second female had been dropped at' home, the deputy learned. Both of those in the Volkswagen told the deputy that this was a joke to be played on a third party. There was a false alarm at the liquor store at 8:04 p.m. July 24. Carolyn Cowles reported she lost nine keys on a dog tag chain at the Latter Day Saints Church on July 24. A motorhome driven by Corrine W. Duckham, 329 S. Fifth, Shelton, struck Matt Hawkins, 13, of Route 2, Box 73, Shelton, who was riding a bicycle, at 11:20 a.m. Thursday on First Street near Kneeland Park. Hawkins was riding his bike near the sidewalk when he swerved to miss a concrete abutment which blocked his path and he was struck by the vehicle. He received lacerations to his forehead and scalp and was taken to Mason General Hospital. A citizen reported a possible burglary in progress at the Shelton Middle School at 10:53 a.m. July 24. The police found that the man that the complainant saw on the roof was helping to dean up the school. Charles Shepard reported his dog was struck by a fast-moving vehicle at 9:45 p.m. on July 23. Roberta Atken reported at 5:30 p.m. July 23 that she lost her purse from atop her vehicle as she headed up Hillcrest. She called at 5:47 p.m. to say an unknown woman had returded her purse to her residence. At 7:05 p.m. she called again to say she had just discovered that her ___wallet wasn't in her nurse. Tearl Lockyear reported a wallet lost near Brad's No. 2. Sue Bowman reported someone tried to break into her freezer. Mark Wittenberg said a battery was stolen. Pete Stroem reported he found five amber traffic control lights inside a vacated apartment. Joel Duncan reported people speeding in an alley between Dearborn and Cascade. Mell Chevrolet reported a motorcyclist riding around the used car lot at night for unknown reasons. SHERIFF'S OFFICE Robert Miller reported the theft of a 1969 Johnson 20 horsepower outboard motor (worth $300) from his residence behind Hood Canal School on the night of July 24. There was a false alarm at the B & R Sales in the early morning of July 25. Gary Burger reprted a car speeding and making excessive noise on the Old Arcadia Road. Ruth Bowlenger reported a motorbike making excessive noise on the Island Lake Road. (Please turn to page nine.)
