This mischievous little
cutie is Hotsie. She was
found tied to the door of
the vet's office with a bro-
ken leg and tail. They
fixed her up and called
Adopt-A-Pet and we were
glad to take her in. She is
a lab/terrier mix about 10
months old and as is typi-
cal of her breed she is very
playful and energetic. She
deserves a loving, secure
home where she can grow
and learn about how won-
derful life can be. If you
would like to meet little
Hotsie Totsie call 432-3091
to set up an appointment.
Visit adoptapet-wa.org to
learn about the other dogs
at our shelter or if you are
interested in our volunteer
opportunities.
Dottie has raised her children and is ready for a safe for-
ever home of her own. She is hoping to find a special fam-
ily that will share love, and affection that this little lady
deserves. Dottie wants to share a lifetime of kitty cuddling,
napping and lap warming in exchange for a warm bed, an
inside windowsill and daily food and water. Dottie will
bring enjoyment and companionship to the right home.
She wishes that one of her friends could share a home with
her. For information on Dottie and other indoor-only kit-
ties call 584-0594 or leave a message at 426-2455.

Diabetes
class
available
at
Being diagnosed with
diabetes can come as a
complete surprise to people
whose symptoms go un-
noticed - often not show-
ing up for years. However,
patients and their families
can take heart that once
diabetes is discovered, ed-
ucation and help is avail-
able to manage the condi-
tion so that someone with
diabetes can lead a normal,
active life. Studies show
that self-management and
a support team of diabetes
experts can greatly reduce
the severity of complica-
tions caused by diabetes.
If diabetes is a part of
your life, plan to attend
Mason General Hospital's
next three-evening ses-
sion entitled, "Living Well
With Diabetes." The class
takes place from 6 to 9
p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20
through Thursday, Sept.
22, at the Hospital in the
Ellinor Room on the first
two nights and from 6 to
8 p.m. on the third night.
It will cover proper meal
planning, diabetes medi-
cations, exercise, preven-
tion and treatment of com-
plications, stress manage-
ment, living with diabetes,
and the use of support peo-
ple and a healthcare team.
Mason General Hospital
& Family of Clinics has a
team of healthcare provid-
ers that teach the class,
and studies show that ef-
fective self-management
of diabetes is beneficial for
the patient and their fam-
ily.
Due to space limitations,
advanced registration is
required. To register, call
Sue Barwick, R.N., certi-
fied diabetes educator at
426-1611, ext. 3301 (Allyn
275-8614, ext. 3301).
Diabetes education is a
covered service under most
insurance plans.
