When his main chute didn't open,
he pulled the cord for the safety
chute. The buckle on the safety
chute apparently flew up and hit
him on the chin, knocking him
out, said his uncle. Although the
parachute opened, said Red, the
man's body fell forward and
swung like a pendulum all the
way to the ground and he hit the
pavement head first.
Parsons was taken to the
hospital severely injured and has
been in a coma since the accident.
