interests are in opposition to
OSHA is coincidental but it does
lend credence to my stand on
both OSHA and WlSHA. It has
even been suggested that I am a
Republican from King County
sent here to defeat the incumbent
Democrat. Neither accusation
bears any truth. I am a Democrat
of lifelong standing and proud of
it. I was for many years a Precinct
Committeeman, twice a delegate
to the State Convention and
nominated for National Delegate.
"For many years I have been
deeply concerned over changes in
the party which I did not like. We
can all complain - I chose to
correct from within the
Democratic structure and have
set out to do just that. Having
previously been twice endorsed
by labor, I have had many of
labor's interests at heart. I still do.
However, every piece of
legislation must be carefully
consideredstrictly upon its
individual merit and decisions
made accordingly. When all
legislators will recognize this
truth, then not only labor but the
small as well as large business
interests will be properly served.
All the people will then be
properly represented.
"Merely because I am a
Democrat, this does not mean the
interests, concerns and needs of
the other party are not worthy of
equal and fair considerations.
Only when all legislators
recognize those facts will the
democratic Party return to being
in actuality the "People's Party."
My promise is - fair
representation to all."
