Editor, The Herald:
It is with great pleasure that I
write this letter of endorsement in
support of a much-needed change
in the public school environment
in North Mason County.
Providing and assuring quality
education for our children is the
essence of what a school system
must be. Guidance of the educa-
tional system is supposed to be
provided by the school board. Ef-
fective guidance requires open
communication with the commu-
nity and transparency in decision
making. Anyone who has attended
a school board meeting in the past
two years knows we currently
have neither. In the election this
November, we have the oppor-
tunity to make a positive change
by placing John Campbell on the
school board.
John Campbell is a career-long
educator. We are fortunate, in-
deed, that he has decided to seek
a seat on the school board. His
election will bring much needed
competency, vision and experience
to this crucial position in the com-
munity. Moreover, John brings a
different quality of social inter-
change to this election. He speaks
of his opponent as the "honorable
gentleman opposite" and, in so do-
ing, raises the standard of politi-
cal dialogue to a respectable and
dignified level. We need to care
more about our kids and the qual-
ity education they receive. John
Campbell is for kids and we can
trust his judgment.
