Phase 2, the remodel of the current station, is expected to begin in early 2020. "it will go quick," said Bakken. "It's a pre-engineered building and so it's a matter of putting together parts based on a design that's al- ready put together and in two to three months it should be up and out of the ground." Fire station upgrades will also include expanded facilities for staff and volunteers. By expanding into two buildings, :there will also be room to house more trucks in the new apparatus bay. The current Station 81 building consists only of one truck bay and a community hall In the remodel, crew and volunteer quarters will be added to the space. Offices and a kitchen will also be built into the station. Bakken said that the com- munity .room will also be updated from its current mid-century style. "If you go into the station, you will see that the community room is dat- ed to about 1965," said Bakken. "It's ancient, but we'll remodel the com- munity room and it'll still function as a community room. But it will just be a new updated community room that the community, and mainly the Tahuya Community Club, that uses it on a monthly basis, will be able-to use going forward."
