Good Sams to meet tonight
The Hood Canal Good Sam Recreation Chapter will have its
meeting tonight at Marge and John Ricker's Lake Cushman
home in division 4, lot 107. The noon meeting has the October
campout and brown-bag auction on the agenda. Following the
meeting will be a potluck barbecue. Participants are asked to
bring their own meat to be grilled. More information is avail-
able by calling the Rickers at 877-9774.
Civil War genealogy subject
The Mason County Genealogical Society will have its first
meeting of the year at 7 p.m. tonight in the Mount Olive Luther-
an Church in Shelton. The program will feature Olympia's
Chuck and Karen Mauer, who will dramatize, in costume, how
people in the United States were affected by the Civil War. All
visitors are welcome to the meeting, which is held on the first
Thursday of every month.
VFW to welcome two guests
Veterans of Foreign Wars Mason County post 1694 and its
Auxiliary will meet for its regular business meeting at 7 p.m.,
Friday, September 3 at Memorial Hall. District 5 commander
Clarence Canfield of Tumwater Post 7089 and president Dor-
othy Page of Pacific Auxiliary 968 in Raymond will attend the
meeting• Plans for the rummage sale on September 11 will be
completed at the meeting. The Cancer Aid and Research card
party will begin at noon at the hall and refreshments will pre-
cede the meeting. The Veteran's Service Office will be closed
for Labor Day Monday, September 6.
AARP will have a potluck
The American Association of Retired Persons will meet for
a potluck at noon Tuesday, September 7, at the Moose Lodge
Hall. The host committee consists of Virginia Cook, Jim and
Alice Henderson, Adelheid Krohne, Glen and Ann Fourre, Lee
and Donna Reynolds and Mary Ann Munson.
ESA will discuss business
The Beta Zeta chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha will hold the
first business meeting of the year at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sep-
tember 8, at the home of Bev Hollands. The meeting will fea-
ture the new officers.
Lions Club to talk apples
The Shelton Lions club will meet for social hour at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, September 7, at the Orient Express Restaurant. The
dinner-meeting will be at 7 p.m. when guest speaker, Jan Nor-
man, will join Lions Lloyd and Karen Sell to discuss how the
Lions' current apple sale benefits Camp Leo.
Horse lovers to meet Sept. 7
The Equestrienne of Mason County's regular meeting will
be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, at the Burgermaster restau-
rant on Mountain View. The club has a ride planned for Sep-
tember 11; future rides will be planned at the meeting. New
members are always welcome. Interested persons may contact
club president Sue Albee at 426-3650.
Sashayers will teach dance
The Salty Sashayers Square and Round Dance Club will
give square-dance lessons to anyone who is interested from 7 to
9 p.m. September 14, 21 and 28 at the Mason County Fair-
grounds. The lessons are for families with children who are at
least 10 years old, couples and partnerless people. Round-
dancing will be taught at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 16 at the
fairgrounds. Couples are required for this dancing. The Salty
Sashayers offer dancing fun in a smoke- and alcohol-free en-
vironment. Those interested are asked to call 877-9247 or 426-
1934.
Masons will honor masters
The Mount Moriah Lodge 11 of Free and Accepted Masons
will host a Past Masters and Widows night September 22 dur-
ing its meeting at the Union City Masonic Temple, 19341 North
Highway 101. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m.; the meeting will be

Baptists to hear Watson sing
First Baptist Church will host its Senior Fellowship Potluck
at noon Thursday, September 9, at the church family center at
the corner of FiRh and Cota streets. Participants are asked to
bring their own tableware and a dish with the first letter being
the same as that of their last names.

Buckwalters cruise for 60th
Dorothy and John Buckwalter of Shelton are cele-
brating their 60-year wedding anniversary with a
Mississippi River cruise and trip to Pennsylvania.
The 23-year Mason County residents were married
September 2, 1939 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
John retired in 1996 as a Washington State admin-
istrative appeals judge. Dorothy, who retired in
1982, was a Washington State inheritance tax ex-
aminer. The couple belongs to the Shelton Elks
Lodge and Bayshore Golf Club. The Buckwalters'
two children are Anne Holm of Olympia and Jean
Israel of Oakland, California.

Good Sams to meet tonight
The Hood Canal Good Sam Recreation Chapter will have its
meeting tonight at Marge and John Ricker's Lake Cushman
home in division 4, lot 107. The noon meeting has the October
campout and brown-bag auction on the agenda. Following the
meeting will be a potluck barbecue. Participants are asked to
bring their own meat to be grilled. More information is avail-

Civil War genealogy subject
The Mason County Genealogical Society will have its first
meeting of the year at 7 p.m. tonight in the Mount Olive Luther-
an Church in Shelton. The program will feature Olympia's
Chuck and Karen Mauer, who will dramatize, in costume, how
people in the United States were affected by the Civil War. All
visitors are welcome to the meeting, which is held on the first
Thursday of every month.
VFW to welcome two guests
Veterans of Foreign Wars Mason County post 1694 and its
Auxiliary will meet for its regular business meeting at 7 p.m.,
Friday, September 3 at Memorial Hall. District 5 commander
Clarence Canfield of Tumwater Post 7089 and president Dor-
othy Page of Pacific Auxiliary 968 in Raymond will attend the
meeting• Plans for the rummage sale on September 11 will be
completed at the meeting. The Cancer Aid and Research card
party will begin at noon at the hall and refreshments will pre-
cede the meeting. The Veteran's Service Office will be closed
for Labor Day Monday, September 6.
AARP will have a potluck
The American Association of Retired Persons will meet for
a potluck at noon Tuesday, September 7, at the Moose Lodge
Hall. The host committee consists of Virginia Cook, Jim and
Alice Henderson, Adelheid Krohne, Glen and Ann Fourre, Lee
and Donna Reynolds and Mary Ann Munson.
ESA will discuss business
The Beta Zeta chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha will hold the
first business meeting of the year at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sep-
tember 8, at the home of Bev Hollands. The meeting will fea-
ture the new officers.
Lions Club to talk apples
The Shelton Lions club will meet for social hour at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, September 7, at the Orient Express Restaurant. The
dinner-meeting will be at 7 p.m. when guest speaker, Jan Nor-
man, will join Lions Lloyd and Karen Sell to discuss how the
Lions' current apple sale benefits Camp Leo.
Horse lovers to meet Sept. 7
The Equestrienne of Mason County's regular meeting will
be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, at the Burgermaster restau-
rant on Mountain View. The club has a ride planned for Sep-
tember 11; future rides will be planned at the meeting. New
members are always welcome. Interested persons may contact
club president Sue Albee at 426-3650.
Sashayers will teach dance
The Salty Sashayers Square and Round Dance Club will
give square-dance lessons to anyone who is interested from 7 to
9 p.m. September 14, 21 and 28 at the Mason County Fair-
grounds. The lessons are for families with children who are at
least 10 years old, couples and partnerless people. Round-
dancing will be taught at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 16 at the
fairgrounds. Couples are required for this dancing. The Salty
Sashayers offer dancing fun in a smoke- and alcohol-free en-
vironment. Those interested are asked to call 877-9247 or 426-

Masons will honor masters
The Mount Moriah Lodge 11 of Free and Accepted Masons
will host a Past Masters and Widows night September 22 dur-
ing its meeting at the Union City Masonic Temple, 19341 North
Highway 101. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m.; the meeting will be

Baptists to hear Watson sing
First Baptist Church will host its Senior Fellowship Potluck
at noon Thursday, September 9, at the church family center at
the corner of FiRh and Cota streets. Participants are asked to
bring their own tableware and a dish with the first letter being
the same as that of their last names.

Buckwalters cruise for 60th
Dorothy and John Buckwalter of Shelton are cele-
brating their 60-year wedding anniversary with a
Mississippi River cruise and trip to Pennsylvania.
The 23-year Mason County residents were married
September 2, 1939 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
John retired in 1996 as a Washington State admin-
istrative appeals judge. Dorothy, who retired in
1982, was a Washington State inheritance tax ex-
aminer. The couple belongs to the Shelton Elks
Lodge and Bayshore Golf Club. The Buckwalters'
two children are Anne Holm of Olympia and Jean
Israel of Oakland, California.
