Ellinor Avenue said the win-
dows of a home had been broken.
A group of five or six males

A caller complained that six
young people on skateboards

A group of young children on
West Cota Street were reportedly
throwing things at cars.
Someone allegedly shot paint-

A two-car crash was reported

A caller from East Wallace
Kneeland Boulevard said a man
came into his shop, made a gun
with his hand and threatened the
employees.
One inmate reportedly
threatened another at the Mason
County Jail.
Monday, August 30
A caller from the 2300 block of
Adams Street said an apparent
gang consisting of four females
and one male was walking
around yelling at children in the
neighborhood.
A man from the Kneeland
Park Apartments was reportedly
taken to Mason General Hospital
after he was attacked by a cat.

The Mason County Jail, which
was designed for 45 inmates and
refitted in 1989 to house 65,
recorded populations as follows

Tuesday, August 24
Fire District 4 responded at
1:36 p.m. to a request for a burn
investigation at 280 SE Arcadia
Shores Road.
Ammunition, jewelry and
tools were reportedly stolen dur-
ing a burglary at a home on East
Thomas Road, Grapeview.
Burglaries were also reported to
a cabin on East Mountain Drive,
Grapeview and to an address on
NE Sand Hill Road, Belfair.
Deputies were asked to help
two people in a canoe that flipped
over off Belfair in Hood Canal.
A caller from West Cloqual-
lum Road near Elma reported
"strange things" happening to
dogs. He said his dog was miss-
ing and another was becoming
paranoid after a number of ani-
mals were turned loose.
A caller from Belfair reported
a brush theft in progress off of
Hurd Road.
A caller from SE Kamilche
Point Road said a pit bull and a
mutt tried to tear the caller's cat
apart.

Burglaries were reported to a
place on NE North Shore Road,

Saint David's to

Saint David's Early Learning
Center will open its doors to chil-
dren from ages 3 to 6 on Septem-
ber 20.
"We plan to be open half days
in the beginning, from 8:30 to
11:30 a.m.," said board member
Betti Haskins. The learning cen-
ter has applied for state licensing
and will expand its hours after
the licensing is received, Haskins
said.
"We are taking registrations
for children fromages 3 to 6, and
a program for care before and af-
ter kindergarten is in the plan-
ning stages," Haskins said.

HEAD TEACHER for the cen-
ter is Lesli Leitz of Allyn, who
comes to the project from a post
as dental coordinator for Commu-
nities in Schools. The Mason
County Chapter of Communities
in Schools was disbanded at the
end of February, she noted.
"However," she said, "I am still
providing assistance to the clinics
on a contract basis."
She was formerly the director
of The After School Program at
Grapeview School.
Leitz brings to the center not
only a background of years of
working with children but is a
musician and has experience with
organizing cultural and benefit
events. One event raised money
for the Suquamish Indian Tribe.

gang consisting of four females
and one male was walking
around yelling at children in the
neighborhood.

taken to Mason General Hospital
after he was attacked by a cat.

Ammunition, jewelry and
tools were reportedly stolen dur-
ing a burglary at a home on East
Thomas Road, Grapeview.
Burglaries were also reported to
a cabin on East Mountain Drive,
Grapeview and to an address on
NE Sand Hill Road, Belfair.
Deputies were asked to help
two people in a canoe that flipped
over off Belfair in Hood Canal.
A caller from West Cloqual-
lum Road near Elma reported
"strange things" happening to
dogs. He said his dog was miss-
ing and another was becoming
paranoid after a number of ani-
mals were turned loose.

Saint David's Early Learning
Center will open its doors to chil-
dren from ages 3 to 6 on Septem-
ber 20.
"We plan to be open half days
in the beginning, from 8:30 to
11:30 a.m.," said board member
Betti Haskins. The learning cen-
ter has applied for state licensing
and will expand its hours after
the licensing is received, Haskins
said.
"We are taking registrations
for children fromages 3 to 6, and
a program for care before and af-
ter kindergarten is in the plan-
ning stages," Haskins said.

Leitz brings to the center not

working with children but is a
musician and has experience with
organizing cultural and benefit
events. One event raised money
for the Suquamish Indian Tribe.
